I am leaning toward the first one. I don't really need waterproof. Even though I messed up my last camera when hiking in the rain. I don't plan on hiking/camping anymore. But you never know.

I like the S8600 as well. Wifes BDay is coming up so I am interested in hearing any advice from the pros as well.
