As a robot developer, totally agree with them. Well, my robots have no guns and they live in the Internet only, but I do realize how far they can go if you give them just a bit of unnecessary intellect and freedom...

I don't get it, how is dropping one of these robots into hostile territory any worse than just bombing the shit out of it? (assuming we are talking about primitive "AI" that is currently available or will be available any time soon)

Simple. The United States makes and arms three thousand drones and stores them on a military base. A foreign country or terrorist group or local nut case hacks in takes control of them. Suddenly one person pushes a button and three thousand drones suddenly starts targeting people at random.

Of course someone will argue they wouldn't be armed until close to the war zone. So then in that case drones can be used to ram passenger airlines.
