I think this would only work with a mobile porn app that doesn't cost much to update on a regular basis..

Has anyone tried this business model vs the traditional $24.95 to $39.95 monthly membership fees?

Or other inexpensive adult monthly recurring apps?

When doing the math on such a comparison, don't forget fixed costs such as per transaction fee. The per transaction fee alone on $0.99 is going to take a huge chunk out of that. Don't forget the declines as well, which you also have to pay for.

It comes down to traffic...

I´d be happy to offer 99cent monthly memberships if I had 5000 daily hit´s, i´d probably see 1000 sales a day & be happy, but when I create most of my own traffic, as most of my affiliates are still only sending 20 hits a day, the usual monthly fee´s needed.

Although, I do have a special "Easter Eggperience" this week & next for $5 5day & 20 a month there after :thumbsup

It's not a bad idea. But as said earlier... the transaction fees will kill you. Rebills would be awesome, because nobody cares about little $1 charges on their cards. But the fees will kill you.

It gas to increase conversions by 30 times to break even. A better idea is to have a sampler site of 10% or less of what the main site has and off an upgrade to the larger site while members enjoy the sampler site. Then email them.

The sampler site should have full-size videos and be a mirror of the larger site. It could even show the larger site without allowing access to the content.

Yes, if my site was 99cents a month membership I´d probably have conversion 1:5 but would want at least 5000 hits a day to be happy selling the 1dollar memberships!

A $5 price point might be sustainable. At a certain point volume will not produce a profit. But make an app with ad revenue to support the content -- maybe. Ad blockers are for browsers not os level apps.

The problem with that, aside from getting dinged for transaction fees, is that you still have to convince surfers to sign up and now you are getting paid less for it. Given that you will have increased bandwidth usage, will have to pay for content that people want to see specifically (not to mention updates) and possibly have to pay out affiliates what does that leave you with you think? The idea isn't broken as much as your starting amount is but the real issue is the content.

It may be hard to attract affiliates if you charge $1 (minus biller's fee)..
Try $19.98 - Still being super cheap for a membership and will make you some income.

Bad idea.

The amount of volume you would have to do to make up for the drop in price is unrealistic. In other words, YES it can be done IF your site is getting hundreds of thousands of hits (or millions). NO if your site only gets 5k hits.

Do the math.

Why pay .99 cents at all?, when you can get it all for free anyways?

Lets say you started a site today where people had access to all the porn in the world for a dollar. Many people in this forum, would have a script ready to copy all of those videos and upload them to their site. Where they would give it away for free.

The bigger tube sites have memberships to the few remaining content producers. That stuff gets uploaded the next day.

Plus the porn industry has a bad history of labeling things for a dollar with cross sales hidden in the fine print.

It has nothing to do with the amount of traffic a site gets. It's about conversion ratios and profits. Do the maths.

Just doesn't work unless it is a trial subscription, over the last 15 years, I have tried various price points. It really comes down to "content" having something unique/popular that people want to see, if you do then they will subscribe
