Worst Week Of The Year?
 

It happens like clockwork. I now have eight years of stats to show that this week (April 8th - April 15th-ish) is the worst week sales-wise of the entire year.

Why?

Spring Break, Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter, Tax Day in the US, beginning of NBA and NHL Play-Offs, Passover and a full moon.....I hate April!!!

Earth Day coming up too so there goes the damn hippie market. :helpme

Not sure from previous stats, but this week has been awful compared to the past weeks over this year even with my Easter deal!

Probably. Like I said above, all those reasons combined = a shitty sales week. Plus you are in Spain, a highly Catholic country so I imagine everyone is at church instead of wanking it (like they oughtta be dammit!!).

Is this really historically a worst week? I haven't paid much attention the last 2 years, but noticed this week my eCPM dropped tremendously for no real reason...and I've even served personal record breaking amounts of clicks.

Well it always has been for me, beginning in 2009 when I started my own company.
I am in paysites so don't know how it affects cams and dating but would think it affects everyone. :(

I'm in Australia. And it's by far the worst week ever here too, actually the worst 2 weeks. I own a new paysite, I webcam and I'm also a feature showgirl in strip clubs here in Melbourne. It's terrible across all fronts for us. :(

The "good news" is things start to improve in May. I usually don't go for "misery loves company" but when I hear it's across the board at least I know it's nothing I did to fuck things up. :D

People are waiting for Trump to start ww3. I live near military base. Non-stop flights all day long.

Eh.. cams also pretty down for me.. was rocking on cambuilder and now last 30 days -30%.. cam whale on flirt4free is on vacation or something, regular sales slow too.. boo

I've noticed no dips.

Only days of the year where traffic is always significantly lower (but always rebounds and then some the next day) are the year-end/New Year holidays starting with Thanksgiving.

You are in Japan?
Maybe the same Western holidays and events don't affect you over there.

I'm in Japan, but we don't cater to Japanese traffic. Our target audience is probably identical to yours: North America, Western Europe, AUS/NZ, Singapore, etc.

Typical sales pattern every year. Next year do extra promo stuff the beginning of the last week of March to compensate for the dip you'll see beginning of April.

Beginning of April people are reminded of the following events in April:

Palm Sunday April 9
Passover April 10-18
Easter April 16
Taxes April 18

(all dates are for 2017)

So people are not buying as much & going through bills and cancelling extra expenses & focused on being pure and paying for holiday expenses, travel, etc., just like before Christmas. So your rebills are going to be down next month, as usual.

Good news is if you send out promos Monday morning you'll get a nice bump from guys done with the stress of the holidays and wanting to unload Monday night after work.

You'll also see bumps the last week of April to first week of May from guys who get their electronic refund from filing taxes on the 18th. Yes these people do exist, a lot, so keep doing heavy promo and be seen those weeks. Good luck everyone and Happy Holidays! :thumbsup

I think mainly because of tax filings. Most people file during the last week, and it sucks up all that loose credit card money. $ 175 - $ 330 average filing fees.

Even in design the last two weeks have been slow.
But things start to look up :)

Never looked at accounts as a monthly thing. It's about what we turned over yearly.

Of course better content would boost your sales.

Oddly enough, the past few months have seen my cam sales in the toilet. Every year same. But this week sales have increased every day heading back to normal. Everything else is still in the toilet though. I hate porn. I love porn.

This year I need to get into cams.
But sales and revenue is down across the board this time of year, for physical goods, retail, online, everything.

first 7 days of this month were the worst for my cams but it picked up some. still the worst 2 week period in many years.

I made some ccbill sales but thankfully I got a solid steady paycheck from the adult company I do work for weekly.

Yeah 50% down seems to be the norm for most businesses this month, including retail. Again this is nothing new. I keep hoping it will change but every year it's the same. LOL This year is actually worse what with all the shit happening around the same time as opposed to spread out throughout the month like some years. Ah well, hang in there is all we can do!

The more globalized your sales are the more consistent they are. Holidays like Easter and Christmas will effect sales globally. However, localized events are minimized by globalization.

The more this business matures the more it will decline for those who think webmastering it marketing. Those who think it's only about getting hits to their site, who have to worry about SEO, links, etc.

Traffic are millions of humans who want to see something that inspires them to buy and just giving them a link or landing someone on a site, no longer cuts it.

I've said it before and will say it again. Getting traffic is the easy part, converting it is what's hard and if you can't afford to pay for traffic and/or create something that inspires people to buy. You're no longer going to find it easy to make a living.

Google, FB, YT, down to Youporn aren't great because they have traffic. They have traffic because they have something people want and need.

Worrying about weeks, months or seasons shows you have no buffer for the lean periods that happen every year.

I am not "worrying". In fact, this thread is about NOT worrying, instead explaining how April is always a down month and to not panic.

Traffic IS easy to get and most intelligent webmasters know it's all about the conversions. I will take 20 people hitting my website if 10 of them buy (1:2) as opposed to 10k hitting my site and getting 1 sale.

So again Guru Paul, duh.
