Former Microsoft executive to release USAfacts.org

No, it has nothing to do with the fake news we hear so much about. But rather a very interesting project Steven Ballmer has put together.

It's a database for govt spending both federal and state. He calls it the first ever 10k financial report on our govt.

You will be able to easily look up how many cops are employed in your area at what cost. How much ticket revenue is collected and so on, as a quick example.

No idea how deep the database goes or how far into local govts, but anything is better than nothing.

He's been working on it with a team for the last 3 years so it should be interesting to see what they've put together.

People should already know about these things. Your local police department has regular meetings where they discuss such things. I've gone in the past and sadly it's all older people, mostly retired. (Then again, it was held in the middle of the afternoon on a work day.)

I just rode along with our local fire department this past weekend and it was amazing.

Like you do.

Great concept! The site design is odd and the reports are in PDF. When you go-to the front page on mobile you see a search box, where you assume you enter your zip to get data, my 92629 zip resulted in no data. :(

I hope this is the beginning of something awesome we need this :thumbsup

He's behind cloudflare so somebody wants to fuck the site up, who and why?

Yes but most people don't have the time to go to police meetings, do ride alongs or go to their local city counsel meetings much less try to research this kinda stuff. This puts it all at your finger tips assuming it works out well.. This means more people will be watching what our tax dollars are spent on..

Assuming the concept works it will make it much harder for politicians to hand out contacts or shovel tax money to their cronies.

Will we be able to see how much tax dollars are wasted on welfare blacks, illegal aliens and leftist degenerate communists like the OP?
