Good Lord that's annoying
It can be a useful feature.. For sure .... Especially since eBay doesn't earn the excessively huge fees they charge
They also give the buy box to overseas sellers with higher prices because fuck you
Sponsored listings would at least help you buy the traffic you EARN from the algo ... LoL

Looks like these days you can use the promoted listing feature if you subscribe to "STORES"
