Pacific Comander Calls for More Ships to Counter North Korean Threat

The US Commander, US Pacific Command told lawmakers the fast-increasing threat of North Korean military action underscores the need for a larger number of submarines, precision-guided weapons and surface ships in the Pacific theater.

"That's why the USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group is back on patrol in Northeast Asia. That's why we must continue to debut America's newest and best military platforms in the Indo-Asia-Pacific," Adm. Harry Harris told the House Armed Services' Committee.

The assessment could likely mean more carriers, submarines, destroyers and amphibious assault ships, among other things.
The Navy assessment for 2018 calls for a sizeable jump up to 355 ships, including 12 carriers, 104 large surface combatants and 66 attack submarines. In the meantime, the services? near term 2017 proposed fleet size seeks to increase the current 274-ship fleet up to 308.

On the heels of the completion of this assessment, the Vice Chief of Naval Operations has also called for a much larger fleet, while specifying that the exact number should depend upon global service activities, threats and the needs of combatant commanders.

It is the way of human kind to put down the little when they try to act big. It has always been this way and until mankind is out of the caves for maybe three million years instead of 30,000 years it will continue to be that way. "You" are little more than a wild beast.

Dictators beat their people into submission.

Uhm... yeah, the country thats been threatening war for 7 decades now and has progressed to threatening nuclear war in the region and to the US, violating every UN sanction and agreement for decades, threatening all their neighbors, who is openly hostile and insane and capable of anything in and is openly declaring their intention to sell nuclear weapons to anyone who will buy them as they launch them at S Korea, Japan and the USA is being "bullied"

furthermore, the USA has supported them with oil, medicine and food for decades in spite of their continual threats of war and violations of sanctions at the same time.

No one would know anything about N Korea if they weren't threatening war all the fucking time as the SOLE means of holding a shitty totalitarian dictatorship together at the expense of millions starving to death and living in constant fear in a walled off cult of personality that has 28 websites ... total.

fucking idiot..

Which is what has happened in NK since the end of the war there.

60 years of doing nothing and allowing NK to grow stronger has led to millions of deaths in NK through starvation and repression. Trump, Bush, Obama did nothing and allowed NK to become a real threat to its neighbours. Now Trump is laying down a line and showing Kim and his aged generals what they're up against.

Will Kim ignore the threat, calling Trump's bluff and carry on as before? That's the worse outcome because it needs Kim to start the war with weapons, not words.

all small countries need nukes...why should invaders feel safe? no reason for that at all....I hope NK sells the shit out of them nukes to other countries...nothing keeps invaders out like radiation :thumbsup
