Marketing: Links Go To Join Or Websites?

There are two marketing theories when directing traffic to a paysite:

1. Have all links (pics, videos, text, etc) go directly to the Join page, including links to other websites in the Network.

2. Have links to other sites in the Network go directly to those sites, thereby 'expanding the net'; if they don't like Site A (the one they landed on) then maybe they will like Site B, C, D, etc.

(For Affiliates: we are not talking "traffic leaks"; all links would go to paysites that will carry your code over thus crediting you for a sale regardless of which website is actually joined.)

So we're just talking conversions here. Which do you think would lead to more sales? Have you tried A-B testing these two choices? If so, how did they work out for you?

I have done some testing on this with interesting results but that was last year so I am re-visiting this area for May and June. I'm interested in what your experiences are when it comes to linking and sales funneling. ("Linking and Funneling" sounds like a new porn niche to me....LOL)

:thumbsup

For #1, would the 'pics, videos, text, etc.' normally not link anywhere so you have them link to your join page?

Normally I think it may be better to allow the user to join on his own before blindly sending him to the join page. You may get more hits on said page, but traffic by itself doesn't magically turn into money. :2 cents:

Welcome to 2017. Where have you been hiding?

Concentrate on convincing the people you have something they need before worrying about linking

Depends on your lander / goals.

For a brand like Brazzers and RK, showing a preview trailer, linking to model pages that actually exist, etc., helps way more in the long run (check the SERPs - all of that extra, highly targeted traffic leads to way, way more joins).

For something like the landers / tours CECash bills for, directly to join for all the things.

I see a lot of pay sites that basically burn money by not even being in the top 100 for their niche at Google... see a lot of them bitching on here & blaming all of their problems on tubes / file lockers also. ;)

Thanks for adding nothing to the discussion Paul.
Then again, what would you possibly know about links (magic)? LOL

The only way to tell is further A-B testing but it seems like exit links work for some, not for others.

Maybe another way of saying it would be if you display Bonus sites on your Tours do you have the links go to those Bonus sites or stay on the current Tour?

I think if you're confident about the quality of your paysite network, then linking to the bonus sites should be fine. Let the surfer get a feel for your overall network. Whatever site he goes to, there's still going to be a very big and obvious Join link for him to click.

Depends on the content, traffic and tour design.

But usually you would link to the tour, since 90% of the paysite-owners are bettet at converting a lead, than any affiliates our there

That's an excellent point (depends on the quality of the Tour) and probably some of my reluctance to link to some Tours. Not every website in my Network I designed myself (many were acquired and thus have old designs). So I'm not sure if linking to those "Bonus sites" would be a good idea. LOL

Always trying to keep things fresh and revisit past strategies. :)
