UK just switched on a new plasma energy reactor

While other countries especially SouthKorea have began using plasma reaction for a sustained energy source, Britainīs created "'first plasma' - successfully generating a scorching blob of electrically-charged gas (or plasma) within its core."

The UK just switched on an ambitious fusion reactor - and it works - ScienceAlert

Quote:

The aim is for the tokamak reactor to heat plasma up to 100 million degrees Celsius (180 million degrees Fahrenheit) by 2018 - seven times hotter than the centre of the Sun.

and the ultimate goal is to provide clean fusion power to the UK grid by 2030.

This. And many other reasons. That's why Brexit.

I eat plasma for breakfast :pimp

Num num num num

Goofing aside, I been following fusion development last years with a big interest. It's will be the way of the future.

Also seeing that competition arises, in turn the development of a real working commercial reactor will go faster. Win-win as long as scientists don't turn our planet into a plasma ball. :1orglaugh

The first one was built in early 1960 ("Tokamak" is a Russian word BTW ;))

1960s: T-3 and T-4, in Kurchatov Institute, Moscow, Russia (formerly Soviet Union); T-4 in operation in 1968.
1960s: TM1-MH. In operation in Kurchatov Institute since early 1960s but renamed to Castor in 1977 and moved to IPP CAS, Prague.

Gary/Nat, how does it feel that it is starting to sink in that your stance on Brexit was based on lies, injected into your brains by simplistic establishment propaganda you failed to see through?
