While I see your logic, I think inviting the govt and right wing wackos to start shutting down porn sites is very dangerous and a slippery slope. These people would like nothing less than to throw ALL pornographers in jail. They could give two shits if its a free porn site, cam site, adult dating site, membership or a HD VR site. Inviting them to shut down tube sites is an invitation to shut down ALL porn. Obscenity Laws can be changed, prosecutions can start again.

Terabytes of free porn in one location should be illegal. I'm old school I've never thought we should have Terabytes of free porn on tubes sites. A few promo images, yes of course. A short clip, ok. People should have to go from site to site and see what they want.

Tubes full of days worth of 24/7 free stolen porn on one site is not good for anyone but mostly the tubes.

how do you figure that "demand for it will rapidly increase"? if there are for example a million free-loaders, how would banning free porn, create more? I would think some percentage 5, 10 or whatever would figure "fuck it" and not bother searching for an alternative, so actually lowering "demand"?

Because if they can't get it for free legally, they will get it illegally - torrents, p2p networks and file lockers lost part of their traffic thanks to tubes, now they will get it back.

The industry has changed from pay to see content to content is free now selling traffic.
This is not limited to adult industry. I would like to see regulation warning pages etc but no point one country only doing it as hosting will just relocate or domains forwarded.
There is no changing that traffic is the most important commodity the net has adapted now the webmaster needs to.

No government will be the savior of the rights of porn.

20% or more of society thinks porn should be classified as a disease -- that is the new regulatory strategy it seems. Limiting free speech like alcohol or cigarettes is as harmful.
