Webhost.pro help or server suggestion

I have to move my site(s) to a new server. Last week I researched several hosts and chose Webhost.pro. I bought a 6 month package and talked with someone on Skype from there that said they would move my site files over via SSH starting on Friday.

As of today they still haven't moved them but that's the fault of my current server, Arvixe.

The problem is I can't get hold of ANYONE at Webhost.pro.
-I've called 3 times, left two voice mails (one with Charlie)
-Sent in 2 emails requesting help on Sunday
-Submitted 2 trouble tickets, one a high priority
-Haunting Skype trying to talk to anyone
-Even left a message with Chaze here

If I can't get going with Webhost.pro I need to get going somewhere else. I'm afraid my budget is small and I know I'll get what I pay for. Does anyone have a suggestion on either what to do with Webhost.pro or a different server I could try?

m3server
mojohost
nationalnet

If you are going to be running your money site then use a good reliable hosting company.

just my opinion.

What is your budget exactly? Everyone has a different idea as to what "small" means.

Are you talking $10, $20, $50?

Adraco 05-08-2017 04:11 PM

Have you ever heard of ANY big company using a .pro address???
Or any respectable company at all, that is not a fly-by-night operation?!

Yeah, me either!

callista 05-08-2017 04:59 PM

My budget range would be $40 a month max.

Small, I know, but I'm not running a big site.

Sly 05-08-2017 05:01 PM

Shoot me a message at [email protected] , I can set you up with a fully managed custom VPS that meets your needs.

That should be plenty for your site .

Do you still have access to a control panel or ssh of the old server ?

If so, you should do a backup RIGHT AWAY of the site and databases .

And if your new host is not helping as promised, charge back the fee and go with a known reputable host.

I do have cpanel access for now. I have a plan with "Unlimited space" but in the fine print that is explained as not unlimited space. I failed to find that in the TOS, my bad. Unlimited is actually around 3-4Gb. I currently use 144Gb.

I am told by support that SSH is not available with my plan even though it was used to transfer my site to that server.

My site is completely backed up on my own computer. I have a fresh download of database backups.

In the morning I am instigating a contest of the charge for the server.

Your going to have a hard time finding a managed vps at that price with that much space.

I did not expewct that much storage.

But she can look at OVH : https://www.ovh.com/us/vps/storage.xml ( that is the extra storage page fee, plus the VPS )

She can move the sites without the data, then upload the data ....

callista 05-08-2017 06:25 PM

I know the size is higher but I've been running my site since 2003. I'm not making the sales I was but I am still making a living while looking at future endeavors.

All I want is to be able to continue running and updating my site while I change my work plans.

Here are some non-SSD VPS plans with more storage:

Let me know if you have any questions by Email or Skype. Cheers,

Brad

I am not sure how much you are making each month but I fully believe in investing in infrastructure.

I do not think it is unreasonable to have hosting run 5-10% of net income for the month. It is well worth it to have a site that is always up with support that is on your side.

So, if you are making $400/month then $40/month for hosting would seem reasonable to me but if you are making $1000/month then I would budget in the $80-100 range and so forth. Now if that amount buys a whole lot more server than you actually need then you can tone it down some.

For example, one of my sites makes me a consistent $1500-2000/month. I have it on it's own server and I pay $80/month for that server. Since the hosting and the cost of the domain are virtually the only costs that the site has I feel it is quite reasonable. That $80/month plan gives me much more server than the site actually needs but better to be way over powered than way under powered.

just my opinion again of course.

I was hosting with Colo (Chris) when he hosted my site, he sold his servers to Mojo so I naturally went with you. I don't pretend to know the arrangement he made with you. On Aug 10 2016 I sent a ticket to you about script problems. On Aug 20 you finally responded after I canceled with you to move to (I'd hoped) a server that would work with me about my problems how I canceled. I still have the emails to show that.

10 days to reply with a trouble ticket is 10 days too long. I'm not a BIG customer but my money is still the same, smaller though it may be.

I really would be happy to return to Mojo if there was true customer service. Can you promise customer service in 24 hours?

I just want to run my site.

sandman! 05-08-2017 07:38 PM

I was talking about managed hosting if she can manager her own stuff sure can be easily done for $40

I'm sorry you had that experience. We have excellent customer service that is reliable, fast and highly accountable. Chris's proprietary ticket and billing system worked well for him as a one man show and we took far too long moving clients off that and into our systems. Please send me an email, we can pick out a new package and I'll give you 3 months free for that previously negative experience. I am confident you will be happy with MojoHost. On a side note, we are excited to be throwing all of the colo servers out as we have finally migrated everyone off all of those, the old ticket and billing system.

Sincerely,

Brad

Like I said above I'd be more than happy to go back to Mojo with my site(s), honest. I have members I've made promises to that I need to keep, I said I would keep. Without a host i can't keep those promises.

I will send you an email tomorrow, my needs have been posted in this thread already. Hopefully you can accommodate those needs within my meager budget but I don't hold you to them.

I really love what I do, I really do, and I want to continue for a while more, but only if I can do it with confidence of quality.

I'm a smuck, I know that. But I believe that happy customers (members) will be recurring customers.

Brad Mitchell 05-08-2017 08:19 PM

I look forward to your email. Thank you!

Brad

:thumbsup

I have a client who hosts with MOJO so I deal with MOJO on their behalf because i do all the programming. The average response time for a priority trouble ticket is in the 4-5 minute range normally. They also always answer the phone.
