Alexa and SimilarWeb
I used to like Similarweb as a second alternative option to Alexa gauging other sites traffic trends - even if roughly.
Lately I saw similarweb was laughably way off on a site's actual stats. Making me wonder how much way-off it can be with other sites too. What are your ideas on these two and others? Alexa supposedly favours* slightly those sites registered as pro accounts with them. Any real-fact feedback on this topic? |
I usually prefer similarweb. in which websites did you see it is off?
|
So which do you think is more accurate?
|
SimilarWeb is a lot more detailed, but if I just want to quickly gauge a site's popularity, I find myself using Alexa...because it loads faster.
Definitely questionable how accurate either of them are, but if you're comparing multiple websites, it's safe to say you can at least use either service to tell how overall popular sites are. The other details like bounce rate, traffic source breakdowns is a bit of a wildcard. |
I've noticed that on similarweb sites have a much much higher ranking than Alexa so it baffles me what to go with.

Google DNS knows LOL
Good luck with the other tracking services. If you pay for the pro-services they can be useful. But they will give you the same gross traffic values. Segmentation can be helpful. |
