Thousands of ransomware cyberattacks reported worldwide
A ransomware virus is reported to be spreading aggressively around the globe, with over 50,000 computers having been targeted. The virus infects computer files and then demands money to unblock them. An increase in activity of the malware was noticed starting from 8am CET (07:00 GMT) Friday, security software company Avast reported, adding that it "quickly escalated into a massive spreading." In a matter of hours, over 57,000 attacks have been detected worldwide, the company said. Continued https://www.rt.com/news/388153-thous...cks-worldwide/ |

I just saw this on the news. It looks very, very serious.
I do not have any files on my computer that I cannot live without. If this ever happened to me and I couldn't fix it myself or get someone to fix for me, I would just buy a new computer. Isn't Rudy Giuliani our Cybersecurity director? I hope he is prepared for this. |
This is huge...

Nothing new here. This has been going on for years since Cryptolocker.

Hardly a news if only 50k computers targeted. Beside, people should learn to use cloud to stay safe from shit like this.

LOL so it seems the NSA are responsible for the latest hack. Thanks America, fucking scum.
They designed the hacking software and managed to get it stolen, now it's in the wild and being used for nefarious purposes. I blame incompetent companies that allow emails, files and websites to be opened without being whitelisted. Someone opened an infected file which then is allowed to spread through the system. How in 2017 is this allowed to happen to big corporations? Fucking retards. |

In light of today's attack, Congress needs to be asking @NSAgov if it knows of any other vulnerabilities in software used in our hospitals. https://twitter.com/Snowden/status/863108616773095425 |
Despite warnings, @NSAGov built dangerous attack tools that could target Western software. Today we see the cost:

Several hospitals across Britain were hit by a large-scale cyberattack, causing failures to computer systems. |
