The uncanny valley - the idea that the closer we get to replicating the human form, the more scared we become of our creations - seems to have come to life in this unassuming factory on the outskirts of San Marcos, California.

Interesting. Have seen articles on other companies which have "Real Soon Now" products that still haven't gone to market a year or two later, but if it's by realdoll, maybe they can pull it off.

Artificial General Intelligence is currently impossible (that would be emulating the mind of a human) but with a sufficiently narrow interest domain (such as virtual girlfriend/sex talk) it's possible to make a passable chat interface.

They need to cut out this attempt at meaningful interaction. If I ever have a sex robot, the only things I want her to say are:

"Would you like to fuck me?"

"Fuck me harder"

And a few other nasty assorted phrases. I think the whole point of having an automated sex slave is so that I don't have to "connect" with her. It seems these robots are being made for losers who can't get a real woman -- but what about us guys who want a durable fuck machine who can extract my load when I need it done?
