Is VR getting big?

I see the boths all over showing off the latest and greatest but I don't have any friends who are using it.

I used to think it would be the next big thing, but now I agree with others that (in it's current form) it's just a fad like 3d porn was.

So far, VR is mostly big talk.
Until big names in mainstream become early adoptors VR will probably go nowhere.

Thats not to say VR's potential is not interesting but we are so far on the left side of the adoption curve ... it's all talk.

Sort of sucks that it is not taking off.

VR reminds me of the time I tried to sell a franchise named Video Realty. This was in Los Angeles, in the late 1970s, using the technology of VHS camcorders and videotape machines.

The resistance point was that this new technology was too complex to understand and was not adopted by the intended target of Real Estate brokerages. The main objection was that it's a seller's market. Another main resistance point was that a real estate broker realistically could sell his and other brokerages' MLS listings easily. Today, 30 years later, video real estate has become quite common on web pages with embedded MP4.

I think the main problem was video real estate was just too far ahead of its time. However, eventually as the market infrastructure changed and customer expectations evolved, the concept of video real estate tours of home listings was eventually adopted.
But I quit trying to sell "Video Realty" after I concluded there was just too much market resistance to the idea. I decided I was rowing upstream with a broken oar.

New ideas, if they take off can make you very successful. If they don't take off you write off your losses and learn from the experience.
