Good places to eat in Barcelona?

They say its the second best city for eating, but my last time there was just above average.
So I'm looking for recommendations... shoot

Landing late saturday. I'm sure you can guess the hotel by the view.

Been there several times. Hard to tell, the products are fine in supermarkets, but I was not able to find a good place to eat, so cooked at home mostly.

Near Palace Guel I found a good sushi parlor. That's it.

Placa Real has about 7 restaurants, close your eyes, spin round a couple times, point your finger, open your eyes and walk into whichever one you are pointing at. You won't be disappointed. I've tried them all, loved them all.

As much as I liked that place I never ate a thing out there :)

el vaso de oro in barceloneta. get several orders of the beef with shaved foie gras. the spicy tuna sandwich is also serious business.

What is good, depends on what type of food you are interested in. What do you like? We can give you more specific recommendations if you are after something.

quick tip: most restaurants offer a "menu del dia" which is their frix prixe lunch menu consisting of 3 courses, allowing you to enjoy sometimes the most expensive restaurants for cheap. Menus are almost never 15 euros, and you get a lot of value.

here are some suggestions. I'm big on VALUE.

Best for Spanish Tapas:
Vinitus
https://goo.gl/maps/FG6BoAD2woP2
- run by the same people as Cuidad Condal, this is their more upscale-feeling tapas restaurant, yet it feels like the prices are CHEAPER because of the value you get. You can get tapas as good as this in a lot of other places, but you pay more, and sit in cramped spaces with a whole bunch of tourists. As long as you come near the start of meal time, you'll always get a comfortable seat to enjoy the amazing food

Best for Breakfast anytime:
Brunch and Cake
https://goo.gl/maps/r7CN2tP1cg52
- you see crowds, not just lineups, for this restaurant during peak times because they dont take reservations. If you are looking for American style breakfast, but a lot classier (and cheaper than Denny's), this is it.

Best for Dinner:
Etapes
https://goo.gl/maps/3SEL7ezA2xr
- it's in the michelin guide as a top restaurant to visit, and honestly, could get a michelin star, but I hope they never do because that would no longer make this restaurant so accessible. Imagine a michelin star restaurant's set menu, but double the portions, and only 35 euros, and you will get Etapes. You will feel full and satisfied, eating slow cooked lamb, tuna tataki, duck, and homemade tiramisu.

Best for Drinks:
Paradiso
https://goo.gl/maps/TxR6jGdziFU2
- on the outside, it's a pastrami shop, but ask to go through the hidden door, and you'll be taken into a cool speakeasy, making some of the tastiest cocktails in barcelona. How about a caribbean-inspired cocktail served in a seashell, presented in a treasure chest with fog and mist flowing off the edges? How about all that for around 10 euros? If you want to impress someone too, take them here

Best Steak/Menu Del Dia:
Buenos Aires
https://goo.gl/maps/unhjBS5p4aH2
- big huge argentinian steak, scallop salad, coffee, and cheesecake, all for 13 euros, AND everything tastes amazing. You can't cook the same stuff at home for 13 euros. There's a reason why this is one of the top restaurants in barcelona according to tripadvisor

Lots of other recommendations depending on the type of food you like, so just ask in this thread and we can give you something more specific

Ferus 05-29-2017 01:11 AM

Tjx for the solid tips. We have enjoyed two of the places so far

Cool.

I'm so in love with Barcelona. Paris was nice but still I'm longing back to Barcelona.

I do not remember the name of that fish restaurant near the sea, but there I ate the best swordfish in my life. If I remember, then I will definitely share it

not exactly a selfshot pic, but all good, hope you enjoy your stay!

I think Nikki´s up in Barca atm too...

Maybe spend a day just getting lost in the town & enjoy some of the smaller back street bars for tapas, they´re always tastiest & cheapest! Enjoy! :thumbsup

I was there this year and we ate at:
BAR CAÑETE | BARRA Y MANTEL

It was AMAZING! We sat on the bar site which was lively and fun. Talked to everyone and ate our faces off. Twice in a week. 9:00pm onwards

Adam_M 05-30-2017 03:20 PM

Tickets in Barcelona is outstanding for great food and a fun night :thumbsup

hdbuilder 05-30-2017 05:10 PM

Great city but when i went during a Formula 1 race, i was more interested in drinking than eating...

SomeCreep 05-30-2017 08:37 PM

So long as it's Spanish food, everywhere is good.

sadiedazzle 05-30-2017 10:08 PM

Good luck getting a reservation. I ate there last year as well and I had to be standing by exactly when the reservations opened and in 1 minute all available spaces were gone.

Highligt of the trip: monasteri de montserrat - 5 hours hike in perfect weather
Best meal: A Pizzaslice with the best bottom I have ever tasted.
Close Second: Random restaurant 50 yards of the rambla, where they served what I would call a perfect lobster, but the sideorders were late, and they dident have cake.
Best fun: Talking to a dude over a cop of coffe and hearing about his "big boat", only to find out next day its 68.15m (223'7"ft) and build by Lurssen Yachts. That thing was almost a ferry
Best part of the trip: Sharing it with my wife
Worse part of the trip: The servicelevel is poor. Dont run a shop/restaurant if you cant smile.
Females: To short for my taste

Sasha BongaCash 05-31-2017 01:46 PM

Any place nearby Barcelonetta beach is amazing!
