Why VR is crap.

and you gonna lose money with it.

Because back in the day I thought fax machines were meant to be the future, it lasted on the edge for a year or two, now, no one sends faxes anymore.

The form it's being served at the moment is a total shit.

Barry-xlovecam 05-26-2017 06:52 AM

VR is a new innovation. Like all innovation it is first released in a usable format but it is usually a crude format as compared to an established polished product.

If the crap sells at the beginning more money will be spent to fine-tune the VR product when it's future monetizing is assured.

I call VR a fax machine, do you predict it's gonna last?

I think your wrong.it is only going to get bigger and better

Well, it will... but it's gonna get a new form. Google glass happened and where is it? Fucked.
So, I expect VR to become something else to sell.

Are you talking about VR Porn or VR in general? Either way, google glass didn't ever sell, VR is definitely selling both high end models and low end knock offs. The medium has mostly a cult following right now but, as Barry mentioned already, it is in its infancy and once it has matured will be the norm.

I recall thinking porn on a mobile phone was stupid when I first heard of it. It mostly was, people looking at static single images. But that got a lot better didn't it?

Barry-xlovecam 05-26-2017 07:07 AM

I was reading an article about the possible practical uses of VR technology in performing surgery remotely assisted by an AI robot doing the actual work on the patient.

Realistic VR enhanced training scenarios for hazardous occupations; soldier, pilot, law enforcement, fire-fighter, etc. is another use with practical value.

Faping to VR pussy is a novelty in the broader scheme. VR may be profitable as a niche market -- jury is out.

Porn is a 20-minute session, or 5 if you're in a hurry.

The idea of attaching a brick to your head, setting up a porn scene to jerk off for 20 minutes, then paying for it. When 20 minutes is available everywhere for free. Will never catch on well enough to make it stick.

There has to be a far more interactive experience than the normal porn scene gives to make it worth the effort. Something a customer will willingly pay extra for to become more involved with what's happening. An hour or more with the model, becoming part of the scenario.

Watch a game on HD, then view the exact same game on VR to get the real effect f VR, same with a movie. So far most porn scenes in VR are just an HD scene shot with a VR camera. It's the equivalent of buying a Ferrari to go to the mall. Other than looking cool there's no benefit.

Do you understand what I'm saying?

Sounds useful to me.

I'm into travelling, gimme a nice VR scenario to virtually travel where I can't afford / don't wanna go and I might consider trying it. I just don't wanna a MineCraft like experience, giime a fucking realistic something.

Barry-xlovecam 05-26-2017 07:13 AM

Mobile devices found wide adoption -- mobile devices are more that half of the market in just 7 years. This is a fundamental change, I cannot see 1/3 of the internet wearing headsets that look like the current VR devices ...

However, if VR catches on: money will be invested in better, more functional VR devices and better VR media.

Barry-xlovecam 05-26-2017 07:15 AM

Virtual travel was another concept in the article. Try out your intended destination and if you like it book the trip. This is like Google street view on steroids :2 cents:

My imagination is wild enough to jerk off on a .GIF, mate. I can confess if I EVAH wanted anything out of my marriage I would simply get a slut to realise my fantasies... VR wouldn't help me at all... meaning if you are a single person, no ties, why the fuck would you use VR instead of a real slut? ANY REASON AT ALL?

MaDalton 05-26-2017 07:18 AM

ok, i guess we can then shut down an industry that does already billions in revenues this year because Sid and Paul said so on GFY

I watch comedy on youtube before i go to sleep at times, guilty... that's it. I still would rather fuck a real woman, no virtual offence :)

We always understand what you are saying. But you don't understand the market, and frankly, haven't in a long time now. This is ALREADY selling extremely well. Even with a specified borderline niche market. The better it gets the more popular it will become. Very similar to mobile, but a much higher quality potential.

but again i can either listen to you (who says who hates it (have you even tried?)) and Paul (where I am pretty sure he didn't) - or listen to PR_Glen and look at our own numbers.

And we have shot by now 200+ exclusive scenes in about 14 months

Sid you have convinced me. I am shutting down VR3000 and we stop shooting today

Do you think FaceBook and Google would invest billions on a whim

VR is going to effect every aspect of our lives, medicine, real estate, entertainment, gaming, the way we travel

in 1999 when the internet bubble burst on wall street were you one of the folks saying "its over for the internet?"

haha

by the way, fax machines were THE business standard for over 20 years hahaah

The better it gets the more that will buy into it. But the scenes themselves have to adapt to the new medium. That hasn't happened in porn since 8-16 mm film was replaced by VHS.

It's a new thing and no doubt selling, but we need to hear from affiliates who are dropping promoting HD in favour of VR. A good indication of its superiority would be VR sites buying traffic of HD tubes. Or better still VR scenes shot in HD promoting the VR version. When Brazzers or Pornhub start upselling the VR versions of their content, we will know it's a better experience for the consumer.

And please don't reply with Tube traffic doesn't buy. That's bullshit. A consumer can download all the VR scenes in one month and have enough to satisfy him for a long time. For what $30 to $50 bucks, they pay that for penis pills.

Porn companies have to adapt the product the fit the medium that will attract new consumers to fully realise the benefits. Of course, some companies will or can't adapt which is great for those who can.

How many use their mobile to view porn at home in private where there's a computer handy?

So taking the headset on a trip to the loo at work is a dead give away. :1orglaugh

VR is catching on because games are adapting to the new medium by making it far more interactive. Wait till movies start to innovate. Some in porn say that's wrong. **cough glen** :1orglaugh

I could see it absolutely working for cams if the model was interacting with the customer. Just has to be while he's at home. :1orglaugh

with this post you have just 100% convinced me that you have absolutely zero idea what you are talking about and have not even watched VR yet.

Ferus 05-26-2017 07:56 AM

I belive in VR but not for porn.

Watched a video of a 3D Roller Coaster the other day I would like to try +for Tech training its great.

HPE demo'ed a setup where we could practice replacing hardware in a disaster recovery scenario, or just working on getting familiar with the enclosures.

I tried to build a datacenter monitoring dashboard using Microsoft Oculus and their React VR framework.. (just for showign of at a customer demo) but I had problems feeding it live data. The hardware-technology is ready, but we just have to invent the correct live-data interaction frameworks (and experience)

MrBottomTooth 05-26-2017 07:56 AM

I don't know about porn, but the video game VR experience is amazing. I have a PSVR. It's honestly quite boring going back to regular video games once you experience them in VR.

Ask anyone that has actually used it. Horror games become so engrossing that they make grown men scream in terror. You really can't know what it's like until you try it.

Once they get good quality wireless headsets it will start to grow in numbers. Right now the cabling involved can be a nightmare to deal with for the average consumer.

You're not addressing what I'm saying. The content has to adapt to the new medium to really catch on. 3.5 scenes a week is great for you, but not the industry as a whole. When VR can convert traffic off Tubes we will know it's a far superior medium. Until then it's just a newer version of the old format.

IMO it has to include the 20-minute jerk off scene after a lot of lead up to that. Which has to involve the viewer more, we would have problems shooting that here in Czech because of the language.

You should be asking where the livecam/streaming industry is, and why they arent rebuilding the Pro. cam studio complexes running in Europe and Mexico.

So are you saying the old 20-minute format has to change in order for VR to really catch on?

If so please explain how you are changing the content.

Unless you're just trying to promote your company, which is what I wold be doing. :winkwink:

Which is what I see a lot here are doing. The pro-VR seem to have invested in it and need to get a return, the anti haven't and want things to stay as they are. I'm looking in from the sidelines and saying that until sales start to convert free consumers it may only be a slight increase from those who used to buy HD now buying VR.

For the industry to really benefit consumers have to ready to pay $30 -$50 to download many months of content because it's far better than the free Tubes version.

Good point though, because if it were far superior, Cams would be all over this and advertising it like crazy.

like I said - you haven't even watched it - otherwise you would know how VR porn is done differently compared to normal porn. And what's the USP for the consumer.

Paul you are so out of touch; Guys take their own cell phones to the office and they are not connected to the company network -- BYOD. The guy could close the office door or take their phone to the men's room and watch a camgirl on 4G ... I hope to have an independent or studio camgirl api for 4G (or normal broadband) publishing (broadcast) use this year.

At home you have choices -- people have smartphones, PC desktops and tablets -- many people have all 3 available to them. Don't you have different hammers or different wrenches for different jobs?
Flash is dead.

This api will work on HTML pages

Currently this is not going to work with live VR but it may be available in the future -- who knows?

Monthly server-stats + processing data from the CC processor.

Because of the EU GDPR Changes, we need to log and track EVERYTHING for our customers. That means I know excatly what pattern a specific group of people follow.

- What device they use to find the content
- What device they use to sign up for the content
- What device they use to browser the content

I have watched VR porn and do know what I saw. Maybe yours are different/superior and here's an excellent opportunity to tell people why they should buy from you.

This isn't a private conversation.

Barry-xlovecam 05-26-2017 08:36 AM

Don't you have a stand for your spartphones and tablets? 'hand free' use is a reality.

I liked the Google Glass concept so if at some point you have HDMI out commonly available on hand-held devices (smartphones) then maybe you would not need that "brick on you head"

The Porn Nerd 05-26-2017 08:38 AM

No offense to content producers but just because (some) companies are paying for VR scenes does NOT mean it's "popular". Money laundering is never mentioned in these threads but think about it: a porn Producer with oodles of drug money cash used to spend 5K on a scene. Times 200 and that's a great way to hide a million bucks. Now multiply that by the costs of VR....

VR is a fad, just like 3D. Whenever a human being has to wear adaptive equipment to experience something it will always be a niche. Do 3D movies in Imax make money? Sure - enough to keep filming in 3D BUT not enough to eliminate 'traditional' cinema. The same will be true with porn.

Let's face it: jerking off to the average person takes a few minutes and they are not that picky. If you are wearing a brick on your head chances are you're more of a porn addict than the average user.

At best VR is an additional revenue stream. It will never be THE revenue stream (for most companies).

At best VR is an additional revenue stream. It will never be THE revenue stream (for most companies).

and now you expect me to be not offended?

I have no doubt people watch porn on mobile when it's the best medium. I prefer to watch porn, movies, TV on as big a screen as possible and in the best versions. Sales figure on TV, cinema and 3D movies prove me right. So why watch a porn movie on a mobile when the TV or laptop are in the room?

Propping a phone upon the coffee table while jerking off seems silly. Can a phone be linked to a tv and used to view porn? Both have Bluetooth.
