So ebay is no longer a big auction house

You have to look hard to find an auction on ebay these days.
Too bad; it started out as a good thing but they had so many bad rules.

I lost $80 on ebay by trying to sell one domain name with a reserve price.

The entire "auction" idea was neat when it first came out, but when I want to buy something I want to buy something already. But I do take part in auctions on a regular basis. If I see something of interest and the bidding is low enough, I'll put in a bid.

I just bought a bike off of Ebay a few weeks ago - great deal. It was used, had a single scratch on it, but otherwise like brand new and 1/3 of the price of a new bike.

What happened, you had to pay the reserve price?

brassmonkey 06-02-2017 09:47 AM

buying or selling i never use auction :2 cents::2 cents:

You don't just throw shit up on auction.. You have to gauge interest. You put something for sale as a BIN at a semi high price for a short term like 7 days.

If the item gets a lot of watchers, you then know it will likely do ok at auction. You don't just toss stuff on auction with out knowing the market ahead of time and blame ebay when you fuck yourself..

No, that was my fee for having a high reserve price and the bids didn't reach the reserve price.

This was before they had the "buy it now button".

E-bay is a poor mans Amazon. They are even copying the site design now. Hardly any bargains to be found.

Yesterday i needed 10 x 4TB HDs for storage. On Amazon they are $399.00 each . E-bay $459 each Adorama $299 each same exact drive and model# all inc free shipping. I saved a $1000 by ordering from Adorama. It pays to use Google for purchases. Just think of all the time we used to spend calling all these store via phone to get a price. Now you can do hours of work in minutes. :thumbsup

Is there any store Canada based which is that cheap? EU and Canada recently signed trade treaty , so that means no more import tax, so it could be quite cheap to order stuff from it.

Rochard 06-02-2017 09:25 PM

I've never sold anything on Ebay.... If I need to sell something I use Craigslist or a local FB group.

romeo22 06-02-2017 09:52 PM

Paul Markham 06-03-2017 02:15 AM
