Google to let publishers charge users for ad-blockers

Quote:

"Google will let publishers ask people who use ad-blockers to either enable advertising or make a payment to view content without ads.
"Funding Choices" will roll out first in North America, UK, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, Google said in a blog.
Google is also working on an ad-blocker of its own, which will function in its Chrome browser."
Do you think this was planned all along, as a reason why Google got involved in the browser space? Remember the fines/issues that Microsoft had with Internet Explorer and Windows. Could this be something similar? They control the ads for mainstream (Adwords) and now the browser.

Or maybe adblockers charging will lead us to less people using them, and more of our ads being "seen"

Thoughts?

It's up to the publisher.

So they're using the publishers dumb enough to try it as their test. They'll see what kind of content people are willing to pay to view without ads, then use that info to make a new policy.

YouTube you pay to see no ads with Redtube, now Google wants the same. Too funny. Big brothers getting real greedy now. Surfers are gonna get fucked real good the next 10 years, just like content producers the last 10 years.

So power is going back to producers & advertisers and away from the surfer, that's the plan anyway.
