Google Chrome will set Ad Blocker on by default come 2018

This is reminiscent of the popup blocker setting on Firefox back in the day

See the change come early 2018

I think this is a GOOD THING because of the rampant clickbait by viral and fake news shares on Facebook and Twitter

One way to look at it is a Google slapback against Facebook

if our government was nimble & effective, they would break up the online media cartels. & the big 6 corporate media too. shame liberals are too obsessed with race & sex whining to do anything populist anymore.

:2 cents:

Well, gotta make lemonade when the world hands you lemons.

Will they ban their own highly intrusive adverts and throw away billions? Or charge more for the only advert network allowed by their blocker, their own? It's just another way to tighten the stranglehold on internet traffic and advertising by 'helping'.

From the article:
The warning is meant to let websites assess their ads and strip any particularly disruptive ones from their pages. That?s because Chrome?s ad blocker won?t block all ads from the web. Instead, it?ll only block ads on pages that are determined to have too many annoying or intrusive advertisements, like videos that autoplay with sound or interstitials that take up the entire screen.

No worries, I use adblocker. Wish there was a decent one for my phone.

The other major browsers will follow -- so it's time to adapt or die. I read that the Google Chrome browser may block some of its network advertisers ads when deemed necessary.

A lot of cam and dating affiliate program tools may be blocked by this default.

seems like another way to spread propaganda to me... maybe its because we live in a " accept my ideology or I'm gonna fuck your life up " society

Rotten to the core.

this is great, there is a lot of stupid websites out there that use way too many ads,

it should be up to the viewer to decide weather or not to disable ad blocker on certain websites,

it will clean up the internet a lot, if people aren't getting income, most likely they will shut down the website,

i disable it on websites i like,

i've never minded ads, most websites don't have many ads,
but in reality, it was google's youtube that made me start using ad blocker,

for porn websites, ad blocker is a must
