keep in mind while Bill Clinton was impeached in the House the Senate acquitted him, that's why he never left office because the impeachment failed to pass both the House and the Senate..

I think it's better if Republicans are forced into starting the impeachment process, because if a Democrat does it like in this case they will just claim it's partisan politics. Nice publicity stunt. I imagine the DNC is drafting articles of impeachment in the event the Special Prosecutor concludes that any 'high crimes and misdemeanors' have occurred that warrant an impeachment and trial. Bribery or treason charges are rather remote.

To proceed, those seeking to impeach require a simple majority in the house. They don't have anything close to it. This is childish grandstanding and nothing more.

If the house changes hands in 2018, it may happen. Then it will be referred to the senate, where it requires a 2/3rds vote (or 67 out of 100). This has happened twice before and each time the senate did not vote to impeach. They wouldn't this time either.

However, pushing impeachment will increase republican turnout. This is why Barack Obama was never impeached, though he easily could have been.

It requires no crime, nor any malfeasance. Just a vote.
