Johnny Depp broke???

As part of their ongoing legal battle with Johnny Depp, the star's former business managers have included emails from him in their latest court filing - which reveal, in part, that he was willing to sell off some of his belongings to help his financial situation.

According to documents filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court (and obtained by Deadline), The Mandel Group is fighting back against Depp's efforts to keep his former agent and lawyer from being subpoenaed as part of the case.

Among the 109-page document are emails from TMG to various members of Depp's team, including an exchange in 2009 between TMG principal Joel Mandel and Depp himself.

"Since my email to you in September, I have done what 1 was told you wanted done, meaning, 'getting us through' financially until work could start again," Mandel wrote on December 6, 2009. " Notwithstanding, I need your help in a variety of ways."

Madel went on to urge Depp to "take it easy" on his spending over the upcoming holidays and wanted to set up a meeting where they could "look realistically at income and expenses and to work together on how to make sure that these are back in balance."

Depp responded the next day: "i am doing my very best on holiday spending, but there is only so much i can do, as i need to give my kiddies and families as good a Christmas as possible, obviously within reason."

He went on to say that he was about to start shooting The Tourist (which would pay him $20 million), then he had the next Pirates movies ($35 million), followed by Dark Shadows ($20 million). "i hope that by the amount that will be coming in from work in the coming year and also from back end proceeds, etc., will put everything straight," he wrote.

Depp then suggested he could sell various belongings if Mandel thought it would help. "what else can i do???" Depp wrote. "you want me to sell same art??? i will. you want me to sell something else???"

Depp went on to offer to sell bikes, cars, property, books and paintings.

Depp's lawyers could not immediately be reached for comment.

if he's broke he is probably the worst ever in money management.

Brasshat, maybe you can teach him something? You're living off of food stamps, your ebt card and sig income of a few pennies a month and it seems you get by just fine.

The Porn Nerd 06-20-2017 10:38 AM

Dude has made hundreds of millions - wtf is he doing with all his millions?

Insane.

After taxes, payouts to agents, managers, helpers, staff, blah blah.. how much do you think he has left over? 30% 40%? So even if the guy made $500m, you are talking he has $200m to himself in a 15-20 year career of which most of it he has had issues with drugs, alcohol, wives and other shit too. It's no inconceivable to imagine he is broke. I don't buy it but the guy defo needs to chill the fuck out on certain things that I saw reported, such as his hundreds of thousands a month he spends on wine.

He's rich person poor....

not poor person poor

massive difference

nick cage went broke said he would never sell his shit. bounced back to making money

Stupid people. It is simple, out of hundreds of millions invest lets say 2 million ( lol, measly 1% or so of all net income) into rental real estate. Lets say yearly roi is 10%, you can live like a wealthy man just of that alone.
It is just one example, it would be impossible not to stay wealthy. How people manage to get broke from those heights is beyond comprehension of a sane mind.

kane 06-20-2017 11:48 AM

There was a story not too long ago about his crazy spending habits. He has multiple houses with full staffs, an island, a yacht, and other extravagant things like spending tens of thousands of dollars a month of expensive wine. It sounds like he is having fun with his money, but he was in danger of spending all of it.

crockett 06-20-2017 12:00 PM

This happens all the time with pro athletes, you have to consider Johny Depp has a long career of good movies but he didn't make the big fame until the pirate movies.

Now figure he's lived a life style of hob knobbing with people who had "made it" long before he actually made it. He was in the ring for a long time but was never center stage until late in his career.

I'm betting managers a d so forth have taken heavy tolls on his income as well as reckless spending to keep up with his peers..

pimpmaster9000 06-20-2017 12:00 PM

Well he has like 100mil in art another 100mil in real estate and like 70 mil on the way from just the next year in movie profits...he will survive LOL

Less money, less worries ...

My mother used to head staff for Kevin Costner at one of his estates 25 or so years ago and their were 8-10 full time staff when the place was empty and depending on who was visiting and what crew they had the number could easily double. So much money wasted but on the other hand he supported 8-10 people per estate with a livelihood.

There is a great documentary about Mike Tyson and in it he explains how he wasted all his money. At one point he owned several mansion each with complete staffs and personal chefs. The chef was to have the ingredients for Mike's favorite foods on hand at all times. Tyson said he wasted millions on these houses and for at least half of them he spent less than 10 days at the house over the span of a few years.

Damn 10 days a year! What they usually do is flip the properties at a higher price because they lived there, evidently Oprah & Ellen do this prolifically. I wouldn't mind their money but I wouldn't want that lifestyle too complicated & wasteful I dunmo

Mediamix 06-20-2017 03:30 PM

People like Johnny Depp are only broke when someone else wants something from them.. :2 cents:

The kid from Malcomb in the Middle did the same thing. He used a lot of the money he made from that show to buy nice houses in nice neighborhoods, renovated them then flipped them and made a ton of cash.

rayadp05 06-20-2017 05:48 PM

Geez. I don't understand how these guys can apparently go "broke" after making Millions of dollars each year. I mean, I know it's possible, but damn. That's just fucking crazy. I mean like, they didn't save shit at all?

In the movie, he talks about different things he did to waste money. His houses and cars were among them not to mention a divorce, legal bills, and general crazy spending.

This is one of the big ones. I used to work in the music business and I saw many bands get record deals and start making some money then spend it like crazy assuming the income will never stop. A few years later when they have had their 15 minutes they suddenly find themselves broke and without the huge income stream any longer.
