The Ol' nanny dog / dindubull at it again.


A pit bull burst through a backyard fence, made its way into a nearby minivan and mauled two young children as they sat helplessly strapped into their car seats, police said.

The mother of the 2-year-old girl and the 5-year-old boy managed to pry the animal off them Monday but not before it seriously mangled her son's face, witnesses said.

Tom Grab told WPMT-TV that he was able to pull the 66-pound dog off the boy, but it wriggled free and continued the bloody assault.

Several other people in the area also helped the mother, who drove to a nearby hospital after the dog was removed from the vehicle. She was treated for scratches, but her children are being treated for serious injuries.

The mayhem ended when the owner of the 5-year-old pit bull terrier came out and secured the dog, authorities said.

The dog's owner is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, and the dog is in quarantine.

No charges have been filed, and the identities of those involved have not yet been released.

The Lancaster police department did not immediately respond to requests for more details.

Bullshit it's a animal that was bred to kill. Just because some can be tame doesn't mean the breed in general is not dangerous.

The issue with the owners is a whole different issue. That is a issue of the type of people who want these types of dogs. They are almost always people that are not responsible and want that kind of dog because they think it's cool to have a mean threatening dog.

I've said that before also, and I do still believe that is a HUGE problem. But when a Lab or even a German Shepherd has a bad owner, they don't try to escape their home to go look for something to helpless to maul. I'm starting to think the breed needs to be outlawed.

Well either pit bull owners are the worst people or pit bulls are the worst breed. I think it's a little of both.

What other breed actively seeks out little kids strapped in car seats sitting in a minivan? The breed needs to be eliminated.

Those kids will now be terrified of dogs for the rest of their lives, which isn't a helpful trait to have when you want to avoid aggression from dogs.

The 5 year old boy is likely blind now:

It's always down to the owner. Why own a dog breed with such a bad reputation, why wasn't it properly locked up, when will the owner go to prison?

I have a boxer and the worse he would do is lick a child. But I guess owning a Boxer or Labrador, another safe breed, isn't cool enough for some people.
