Nah, thats the bullshit version thrown out there by the police to keep people confused.

He used his AlphaBay nickname on some tech forum back in 2008, along with his real name (fucking retard, but what do you expect from a kid)

Cops did a simple google search for the nick and found him. Did some digging, found millions of dollars in cars/property/bank accounts without any apparent source to tie it to (no legal business), so they knew they got the right guy.

Raided his home, and the dumbass had his notebook left logged in. They lifted all the servers access passwords / bank account spreadsheets etc. Such a fucking stupid security hole, it's unbelievable.

I bet the thai police killed him so he wouldn't get extradited to the US (altho the report says he hanged himself on a towel, LOL)

It is assumed they cops kept the site running for a month before shutting it down. Got a shitload user info of major vendors, etc.
