Total Solar Eclipse coming to the United States on On Monday, August 21, 2017!

You guys are so lucky!

https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse...e-when-and-how

Quote:

On Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights - a total solar eclipse. This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun's tenuous atmosphere - the corona - can be seen, will stretch from Lincoln Beach, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. Observers outside this path will still see a partial solar eclipse where the moon covers part of the sun's disk.

Enjoy it!

Science & Nasa deniers who live in this path:

It's not the end of the world, so relax.

Can't wait this is going to be epic

I remember there being one about 20 years ago too.

You are one of the greatest science deniers around. You and all of the other global warming alarmists operate on fiction not on fact. And the world will be far worse off because of your delusions, deceit and outright lies.

Other than that have a nice day. :winkwink:

Oh, and yes I am looking forward to the eclipse. My telescope is ready.

Portland is right in the path and will be a great place to see it. I'm excited. The last time we had a really good eclipse here I was in 2nd grade.

You're lucky that we even let you call us "deniers".

Science is about empirical truth. Religion is about culture, morality and peoplehood. Science and religion co-existed long before your relativism wormed its way in.

But keep trying :)

As for the eclipse itself:

https://www.space.com/37201-solar-ec...ture-drop.html

Quote:

During the total solar eclipse on Dec. 9, 1834, the Gettysburg Republican Banner reported that in some places, the eclipse caused the temperature to drop by as much as 28 degrees Fahrenheit, from 78 degrees F to 50 degrees F (25 degrees Celsius to 10 degrees C). During a total solar eclipse on the Norwegian island of Svalbard in March 2015, temperatures dropped from 8 degrees F to minus 7 degrees F (minus 13 C to minus 21 degrees C).

How many shall die?

onwebcam 08-01-2017 08:41 PM

I'll be hanging out on the roof, right in its path. Roughly 2 miles north would be about dead center.

Science says, that the moon will eclipse the sun on Aug 21. Science says that the earth goes around the sun. Science says too much "greenhouse gasses" are bad for the planet.

"My" relativism? I don't understand. Science truth doesn't depend on who is stating it, or who discovered it, or even a person's capacity or background to understand it. Science is True, regardless.

And to clarify, I'm fine with religion, and there's nothing that really says you can't be a scientist and religious at the same time. (I find that hard to comprehend, but there are some who are both for sure). What I dislike, is organized religion, or any time religion is used to squash science, or used in place of important medical procedures, or in any attempt to sway public opinion.

Wow! You're so lucky. Would love to see this with my own eyes instead of on TV.

The first two are observable, verifiable and proven facts. The third is theory, without verification or proof, based on computer models that are fed a generous supply of flawed and manipulated data. Garbage in, garbage out as they say.

Unfortunately I don't have a camera mount for my telescope. I'm just a rookie astronomer. :)

Driving 50 miles for ~2:30 of totality, while sitting at a winery.

Don't get much better
