?Our civil rights are being violated?: White supremacists melt down after Airbnb cancels their accounts

After realizing that some of their listings in Charlottesville, Virginia were being rented out to white supremacists attending a rally headlined by Richard Spencer, Airbnb decided to cancel those accounts. In response, a bunch of alt-right Twitter users decided to boycott them.

According to BuzzFeed News, the room rental company began deactivating accounts of hosts they believe are ?are booking units to host gatherings? related to the ?Unite the Right? rally. The rally, scheduled for Saturday, August 12, is to be held in the same park that?s hosted multiple rallies in defense of a statue of Confederate army leader Robert E. Lee, including one in July led by the KKK.

?Anybody who is not just in the alt-right, but who is conservative, right-wing or cares about civil liberties should start boycotting Airbnb. Airbnb are cancelling people?s reservations to stay in Charlottesville ? based on political ideology,? Jason Kessler, one of the white supremacists organizing the rally, said in a video.

?We are having our civil rights violated,? Kessler said of the Airbnb crackdown.

This isn?t the first time the company has punished users whose bigotry violates their community standards agreement. Last month, Airbnb ordered a racist host to pay out $5,000 to a guest she barred from her residence after discovering the woman is Asian.

South African visual artist Sibahle Steve Nkumbi was thrown down a staircase while leaving an Airbnb address she was staying at in #Amsterdam, the #Netherlands. Nkumbi came to Amsterdam to work an exhibit at the Amsterdam Stedelijk, where work was being showcased of the artist collective Zanele Muholi. Nkumbi was scheduled to check out of the apartment at 11 am but was still there after 12 pm. At this time, the landlord arrived at the property, which ultimately resulted in Nkumbi being thrown down the stairs. Nkumbi stated that no one was arguing with the landlord but were trying to reason with him. She believes that he was verbally aggressive and that the attack was racially motivated.

The clue, the man is married to a woman who works for the "Green Left" party in Holland. She can be heard on the background.

The GreenLeft party is the party in favour of all immigrants, most hardcore let every immigrant in party. Also the party that is against more Airbnb houses in Amsterdam and want to forbid it. Isn't it ironic. A racist Airbnb host, part of the GreenLeft party.

Why should hate groups have any 'rights'?

If you want to walk around in a KKK clown suit -- that is your right.
If someone does not to do business with you because you are walking around in a KKK clown suit -- that is their right </case closed> move on ...

Sure, but that has to be a two way street though. Arguably blacklivesmatters is a hate group (there's been alot of 'kill whitey' coming out of their members), or black panthers for instance - but if someone refused them service it'd be "racism". If someone refuses service of a guy wearing an ISIS t-shirt they'll spin it as "refused service to a muslim".

Barry-xlovecam 08-08-2017 05:15 AM

Is is against the federal law in the USA to deny service on the basis of race, religion, creed and now sexual orientation. That is the law in this country.

Additionally, you can deny service to someone for the reason of criminal conduct.

If a customer in the McDonalds line is dressed in a black ski mask carrying a machete -- smart thing would be to call the police. Shooting him dead if he makes any hostile threat with the machete seems a good idea ...

Another example of having to explained basics to anither foreigner who thinks they know everything about America.

The white supremacist Richard Spencer is a Trump supporter. Don't take my word for it read the article 'Hail Trump!': White Nationalists Salute the President-Elect lead by Richard Spencer

Right but what I'm saying is that if I'm running a store and a guy in a KKK outfit or stormfront t-shirt comes into my store - I can ban him and it's ok. However, if an african walks into my store wearing a "Nation of Islam" or "KILL ALL WHITE PEOPLE" t-shirt, I cannot ban him because now it's prejudice against his religion or ethnicity?

Both KKK and NOI are considered hate-groups.

Race will always be a motivating factor, or something to play on peoples feelings with.... its sad

Typical right wingers, always up to discrimante against others but cry like girls when it happens to them...

Barry-xlovecam 08-08-2017 10:48 AM

Konrad -- stay out of the USA do us all a favor ...

You would possibly be sued if you tossed someone out of your store for just wearing the wrong t-shirt. I don't think there are too many blacklivesmatter guys lynching klansmen -- in fact I haven't heard of one case in point.

The problem with the eastern-European is that they lived in a communist (really fascist) state that allowed this sort of behavior -- the other guy was always the enemy. Before that too many of your countrymen were Nazi collaborators. Antisemitism runs deep in your society and I guess you have no problem with racism either.

In time the Russians or Germans will eat your country for lunch again as they always have for the last 1000 years.

It's not like that in America. I like you k0nr4d, always have so please don't take what I say as being mean.

What you're expressing is an oversimplified & skewed view on American race relations. A black man would not walk around in threatening attire like that but for specific small urban areas. If they were to go outside those areas in a "kill whitey" shirt or whatever, and look threatening, the cops would be called immediately. KKK has infiltrated our police force here so blacks know "the rules". Unarmed, non threatening blacks are murdered regularly here and the cops are basically allowed to do this. I can't imagine being black and knowing law enforcement will likely not be out to treat me as an equal citizen. I would be pissed, and pissed that my tax dollars are paying for a system that treats me less than.

It's pretty clear by the posts here over the last year or so that a lot of Europe is getting alt-right skewed news in their mainstream media when it comes American current events.

That's attempted murder.
