What software would you pay $100 for?
 

Many "clients" seem to think they can get custom software solutions built for 100 bucks.

Am I overvaluing my services? Do I need a reality check?

What type of software would you expect to get for $100?

I really would like to know. I would appreciate some feedback.

You're not.

Some clients are desillusional and think software simply "pop" there. Some still think that Facebook or Google is 2-3 kids in their garage.

100$ may be less then 2h of work depending on your location. For that amount of time, they may get a small file parser or a small GUI for 1-2 utilities. That's about it.

Some clients will never have the budget.

There's that side and there are governments or big companies spending millions on unused software because they never thought it would be useful to know the number of users they have or if the software is actually useful.

For $100.00 they get 1 hour of my time, so maybe a couple of queries or a quick repair of something simple and of course the joy of talking to me.

So, no you are not delusional. There are many people in this world with unrealistic expectations.
