OBS is more of a streaming software that I use for Twitch, but you can do screen recordings as well.

I use screencastify https://www.screencastify.com/ and have been happy with it. It is chrome only though.


Edited in: Missed the "free" part. The free version of screencastify is limited. I did the $2.00/month option.

I am only looking for software that will allow me to record what I'm watching. Like if I want to record a youtube video or video clip while it streams.
