The reporters name is Drew Griffin. He is wearing the CNN red jacket and shorts. During his live newscast he ends up running out to the truck. Fast forward to sixty seconds later you see another CNN crew member in a the CNN red jacket, pants, and boots. That person is not Drew Griffin - Drew Griffin is off camera, still with the mic on him, and he is now on the phone with 911. You are seeing the CNN red jacket and just assuming it is the same person, when it isn't. |

Complete analysis. Griffin says: Looks what happened earlier when we were setting up They do a flashblack to something that happened earlier Graphic says: "CNN's Griffin pulls driver from Texas Ravine" Can't be a different guy because they specifically say it's him Griffin asks if he can get a power cord to help pull guy out, you see him later with power cord You see him run over there with shorts and Sandals. He tells the guy he's getting a rope. It's clearly him with the shorts because he's over there talking to the guy. They do a cut screen You see Griffin talking to the guy. He's not narrating, he's talking to the guy. He has the power cord in his hand. Griffin is wearing shorts and sandals and then after the cut he's wearing pants and boots. It's clearly a setup. |
If you have any doubts at 1:55 you can clearly see Griffin with the mic in his hand talking to the guy wearing pants.
|
After watching it a few times I think the guy in the shorts is a different crew member. Griffin runs off to the left side of the screen towards the floating truck. You can hear the mic and it sounds like he is running, saying "Hold on, I'm trying to get you a rope." The camera then pans left. Part of the frame is obscured by something and on the right side is a guy in shorts and sandals with a red coat, but he clearly isn't running. He only takes 1 or 2 slow steps meanwhile, the mic is still picking up the other guy as he jogs over. It looks like the guy in shorts may have been a crew member trying to get a cord they could use to help the guy.
All that said, I wouldn't be shocked if CNN were able to find someone dumb enough to risk their life for a staged rescue, but even if that ends up being the case, I think it is two different people we are seeing there. |
crazy shit

I think that is Griffin in black pants and he is talking to 911 and also talking to the guy at the same time. But that still doesn't mean Griffin was ever wearing shorts. We never see Griffin in shorts. We see a man in a red jacket and shorts, but we do not know if that is Griffin. |
It's staged plain and simple. He runs to the water in shorts and tells dude in truck he's getting a rope, end of that scene. Next he's pulling the guy out in pants and boots.

He's off camera yet he's standing right next to the guy talking and walking towards the camera? The amount of BS you people believe is mind boggling. Fucking scary really. |
CNN can always release the raw footage without the cuts if they want to set the record straight.
