Adobe Flash officially deprecated, to be discontinued by 2020

"Specifically, we will stop updating and distributing the Flash Player at the end of 2020 and encourage content creators to migrate any existing Flash content to these new open formats."

I'm just trying to imagine the sheer number of man-hours involved in upgrading even a small fraction of Flash based websites...

Now all they need to do is make webrtc actually work properly in various browsers and we're good to go!

The declaration of "Flash is Dead" has been a decade's old failure in itself.
Everything that "replaced it" is inferior.

The guy who declared it was dead is fucking dead.

And the problem was not flash; but shitty flash programmers.
Youtube would have never existed without flash.

And to think that all this drama was caused by some bitch-ass-motherfucker who couldn't get
his overpriced shitty phone to work.

Flash worked completely fine on Android phones before Google "drank the koolaid".

I got tired of the constant nagging for updates and the sneaky pre-checked install of McAfee on the download page. I uninstalled it a year or two ago. Did note at the time that one of the big tubes (xvideos, I think?) was still using a Flash based player. I think they've changed to HTML5 since. Wonder if any other big sites are still lagging?

The odd thing is that even though I have uninstalled "Adobe Flash Player" there is still some kind of Flash player embedded into the Windows 8 OS. It shows in updates but apparently cannot be uninstalled.

What are all those old flash games going to do? Facebook has a bunch of flash games, what are those games going to use instead of flash?
