US hands out first contracts for border wall prototypes

US hands out first contracts for border wall prototypes.

Quote:

Four companies have been chosen to build prototypes for Donald Trump's planned border wall, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said.
The four concrete prototypes will be 30ft (9m) long and up to 30ft tall, and will be built in the coming months.
Officials will then spend up to two months testing the walls for tampering and penetration resistance using small hand tools, CBP said.
The four contracts are worth up to $500,000 (Ģ387,000) each.
A continuous wall across the entire southern US border was a key promise in President Trump's election campaign.
It's going ahead.

No 20$ rope ladder from Walmart can climb it LOL

kane 09-01-2017 01:45 AM

There is a big difference between a prototype and an actual wall.

Tasty1 09-01-2017 02:02 AM

That is not a great wall, that is a fence.
This is a great Wall

If we're going to do it, now is the only time. The beaner population is getting too big, picking up too much political power. They are not like us. They can only bring us down.

Why is protecting America from illegal migrants a bad thing?

This will cut down on the illegals, raise wages, lower benefits, and keep the population American.

You're not American Paul and it's been explained to you by me, an American in California, almost DAILY how this works. All states that border Mexico are against the wall and I've explained to you why a million times here! We need hundreds more border patrol officers and high tech surveillance.

A stupid wall without those things leaves us in the same place we're already at 1,900 miles of border with hardly anyone patrolling it.

You don't fucking get it the stupid wall doesn't stop shit, there are already hundreds of tunnels UNDER the wall. Jesus fucking Christ Paul WTF

Maybe your explanation is a crock of shit.

The walls will also need to feature cable conduits and other design features for sensors and cameras.
Sensors will do the jobs of 100s of people and listen for underground activity.

I will agree that the businesses that thrive on migrants and the Corporation owned government are against it. The people are the ones who need it to protect their standards of living.

Outstanding. Let's spend billions to fix a problem that is solving itself.

Barry-xlovecam 09-02-2017 10:45 AM

The security wall between Israel and the West Bank only stops people seeking work from getting in -- honest people. Meantime, terrorists are stabbing Israelis in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. FAIL! BIGLY.

So, if you are concerned with dope dealer's mules and *Mexican Rapists* getting in you are wasting your time and money.

NatalieK 09-02-2017 10:47 AM

and this tunnel was create by the cartel for drugs smuggling, the US agents located...

wasting money while cutting programs that help people

Here's one of the companies.Caddell Construction,

Caddell Construction to pay $2M to resolve fraud violations
And if you think they and the others won't milk the government with over inflated billing...

Sensors LOL if only there was a way of exploiting this by tripping them off on purpose at multiple places constantly so it becomes useless...you would need like 50 guys...for like 2 months until the border patrol gets tired of sensors...

If they are going to build a wall they may as well paint it pink...to be a purdy wall...

The "wall" will not protect America from illegal immigrants. Are you not aware that almost half of illegal immigrants come by plane and actually enter the country with visas and then overstay their visit. Goggle it. Also Hispanics are now the minority of illegals in the country. Google it. The wall will stop only a relatively small number of illegals from entering the country and will by no means be cost effective.

In addition it has been proven that Americans will not do the work that migrant workers perform so Agriculture will be heavily affected and hurt those in that field economically as well as consumers at the food outlets and create a shortage of produce available at the markets.

TheDynasty 09-02-2017 11:58 AM

Tunnels will always pop up this wall will never be built

The food aspect is an interesting one to me. It is true, Americans don't want the jobs many of these illegals are doing. My first job was working in the fields on a farm one summer in high school. This was in the 1980's and even then about 80% of the workers were Hispanic. Now it is almost always close to 100%. When the illegals go, the farmers will have to pay more for workers and/or will go out of business, thus raising the cost of food. The question is, will the price increases be greater than the savings of those people no longer living in the country?

I don't think you get how many legal workers cross all the time.

It will undoubtedly discourage some of the common people that are looking for a better life, not so much drug dealers and the criminal element. The wall will not prove to be cost effective in my humble opinion and will in addition harm wild life among other things.

What a clown confusing communism with people jumping the border for free benefits.

They calculate 170,000 are coming in every year. That's 170,000 who need jobs, housing, healthcare, policing, etc. They will be taking jobs from American citizens and putting them on benefits. That creates a huge tax bill you have to pay or debt.

So why do you think it's a bad thing?

Drugs are carried across the borders but there are also tunnels. Putting in detectors will stop some of that.

So 170,000 is a small number.

How do you think Australia picks its fruit? The "American workers won't do the work" argument is stupid. They won't do it for the wages migrants will.

Things are changing.

Automation will be the worse thing to hit the industrial world ever. There needs to be massive cuts in populations. Not importing migrants to do jobs cheaper than machines, for now. The fewer people, the more everyone gets.

What do you suggest America does to raise wages and stop illegals competing in the jobs markets and getting free healthcare, education, etc?

I do not know what 170,000 represents so I have nothing relative to compare the number too. Generally speaking American's will not do field work and there is a limit on what Agriculture can pay and the markets will bear, etc.

I suggest a magic wand...or you could solve the problem with selective blindness :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

pick a scenario:

1) you have cheap labor and you get cheap goods
2) you have expensive labor and you get expensive goods
