Bitcoin's price rose above $5,000 for the first time today.

Bitcoin's price rose above $5,000 for the first time today.

The CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (BPI) hit a high of $5,013.91 at 02:25 UTC, market data shows, staying above that level over the next 10 minutes of trading. The price then dipped below the $5,000 mark, falling over the next hour to a low of $4,867.18 at 03:28 UTC.

Market data points to Chinese bitcoin exchange OKCoin leading the spike, with that market hitting a high of $5,149.

Honestly - would you have held it all this time? I sold off several bitcoins at double figure prices because I thought the bubble was about to burst. That was years ago. It's easy to say "if only I'd waited..." but who can really see into the future? I've still benefited from it over the years.

Yeah having had thousands of bitcoin and 10's of thousands of litecoin I know that feel. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that. All you can do is learn from your mistakes and hodl. On the plus side it seems I am getting back 55% of my btce crypto today. A definite lesson learned there as well.

Is that legit? I received a phishing email, complete with ZIP attachment, saying the same.

According to the announced plan, old personal accounts were opened to check the balance and make modifications to the security settings.

The launch date of the new site , which will operate in the legal field of AML, KYC , the necessary licenses with biddings (web, api) and the possibility of input and output (Fiat, Coins, Codes), is planned by September 15, 2017.

Tomorrow, on September 2, 2017, it will be possible to withdraw 55% of the funds from the account in koins on the condition that our debt obligations are abandoned to the remaining 45% of funds in the form of tokens.

More details about the conditions, the principle of calculation and the form of output will be available tomorrow.

What will happen to the funds ramaining in the accounts of those users, who decide to stay and wait for the the new site launch?

1. Your profile will be automatically transfered with all the security settings (password, 2fa, IP white list)
2. All your funds will be transferred to a new site.
3. On the day the site is launched, the balance will be recalculated at the market rate and will be credited to accounts with a higher ratio than 55/45.
4. Tokens will be credited to your account balance, which you can use for bidding and releasing codes.

I think I will wait the 2 weeks though. It's not 55% vs 100% but maybe 200% or 400%.
(They are going to give bitcoin cash and convert btc at July 25th prices I believe. As a reward for patience and loyalty.)

yes it is rowan
they have imported all data from the previous .com domain
including users personal details, trade history, etc

pretty believable that this week accounts will actually start showing a balance of something :)

As jscott says, it's 100% their domain. I logged in with my old 2FA, same old balance, same everything. It's as legit as it ever will be.
