It's in all water based products. It comes from the high rate of plastic pollution. It's also in fish.

I have my own water well
I reverse osmosis and carbon filter my drinking water

I may get hit by a bus, be run over by terrorists, or get pulverized in a tornado and die but my water will not kill me

AFIK cation (salt pellet) water softeners will not remove particulate matter just remedy water hardness caused by dissolved minerals in your water. I pretreat the house water with a cation softener. Outdoor hose water is straight from the well and one spigot is softened water to clean the deck .

so whats worse, drinking tap water or bottled water?

Distilled is probably the cleanest.
Filtered water is no better than tap unless it's reverse osmosis.

I drink spring water.
I won't even wash my produce with tap.
