depends on the merchant account company usually 3 mo's

basschick 04-24-2003 02:16 PM

we had non adult merchant accounts at three banks. it was 18 months for all three.

jact 04-24-2003 02:17 PM

I believe you have 180 days to launch the investigation.

It's 3 months...But, if the membership is longer, such as a 3, 6 or 12 months, clearly the customer will have a longer period before their chargeback ability expires. This is the main reason merchant account providers prohibit longer term memberships.

Rex 04-24-2003 02:32 PM

i think it is 75 days

I am not talking about membership but payment for content. Is it the same for "tangible" products?
I though it is 1 month

It varys from card to card and merchant to merchant. Some make it a lot easier than others.

OK I did something silly, I called VISA and they said I have 6 months to dispute charges.

directfiesta 04-24-2003 02:46 PM

I sell tangible and it can be up to 6 months ( even if you have proof of delivery and so on..). No point in debating it: you will loose and you could get in trouble with your processing bank.

It is part of our business as much as retail stores face shoplifting losses....

Rather than ask a question like that here, why don't you call your bank that issued that credit card, and ask them???...
I do believe it is 6 months though.
:2 cents:
