What Good is Yandex?
I have over 100K lines in a server log of "YANDEX"
So I find their datacenter in the USA -- this affiliate server is in the USA also zcat access.log.gz|cut -d'-' -f1,3 |sed 's/ - / /g' |sort -t"," -k1|egrep '100\.[0-4][0-9]'|less zcat access.log.gz|cut -d'-' -f1,3 |sed 's/ - / /g' |sort -t"," -k1|egrep '100\.[0-4][0-9]'|wc -l 138436 138436 lines (file hits) Code:
zcat access.log.gz|egrep '='| egrep -v 'l=|"-"'| grep 'google' |wc -l =Google 2450 The answer https://s26.postimg.org/w74lrx3m1/se...ate-domain.jpg
So, if you are not getting any Google love you can find love elsewhere. ps: I am the process of redeveloping this domain into Google 'mobile' standards -- hopefully the Google search will improve -- this domain was last renovated in 2010. |
And your point is? :)
|
Fuck Google and its 'ecosystem'?
There is life after Google ;) I am guessing Yandex is worth 1/5 or less of the majors ... |

Nothing. |
If you are the seller and you cannot track customers sources and IP you are doing something wrong. You cannot pass tracking parameters (for source)?
Unfortunately, as I said above, this is for an affiliate domain. However, this sponsor will return a random subid parameter that you can set so it may be possible to include the conversion and country in the referral link programming I am doing on the new versioning of the backend. I don't deal with CCBill affiliate refferals or unsophisticates. customer cookie -- sloppy but probably good enough. The more people learn to get around, and depending less on, Google -- the less stressful your life will be as a webmaster. All your cookies in one basket and little diversification ... SEM is like real high school; Google is the blond cheerleader we all want to fuck so the competition is fierce -- so unless you are on the football team ... Bing and Yahoo are like the plain jane girls that you can get some head from or maybe fuck. |

It's possible some Russian expats in the West use it and they may have Mastercard or VISA and be able to buy. This domain blocks Baidu -- maybe it shouldn't -- but the baidu bot is a parasite hogging bandwidth. The same may be true of Baidu -- many wealthy Chinese have credit cards from Western banks they also know how to get around the firewall of China. There are over 1 billion Indians, most worthless to us. However there are a few million that have money (disposable income) and credit cards. |
I have to agree with Barry on this one.. :2 cents:

Looks like a good SE!

Code:
zgrep -e $match -ve $dont_match -c $log_file And to the results... yahoo is actually using bing search engine, so you the mass traffic is going from bing. Is that really difference? (meaning as the majority souce in your case is bing instead of google) |
You are right about zgrep. I started out with zcat to see what I wanted in the lines then just piped it into an egrep. Easier to just continue the line -- the file was only 55 meg compressed ... less typing i do like that
It doesn't matter to me what or how the search engine's suck each others cocks -- I was more interested in the search domain of the referred user. Yahoo search and Bing are not exactly the same SERPs as I remember ... In fact I was surprised by the yahoo count -- still getting action on that domain. Now that Verizon bought Yahoo it may get interesting as all the ISP typo traffic may be incoming IDK we will see. people>search engines>referrals ? conversions |
Yahoo doesn't have own modern search engine.

There are differences -- otherwise hypothetically the referrals might be the same. Or, the Japan market Yahoo.jp is counting with Yahoo.com that could be a lot of the difference.
