i for one never understood the attraction of her. She looks like a totally average chick, wouldn't get a second glance from me "in real life" when i'd see her passing by. There are tons of chicks hotter than her out there.

Many actresses or actors are average and would not get any glances other than every other person. It is spotlight/"star" effect, she is popular so she must be wanted etc. Psychological thing.

On not so related note, just yesterday I was wondering the same thing - why aren't actors and actresses taken only from lets say top10% of beauty pool (You could say "talented" is hard to find and you must take from averages as well, but top 10% is still millions of people to choose from).

I came to conclusion that it is maybe so that people woudl relate more, if all were super hot it may seem unnatural.

Also: there is an "interesting" face concept, that I understand, but it is definitely not the case with majority of regurarly looking and not super talented actors.
