Hundreds of thousands sign petition over Uber London licence loss
Hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition calling for Transport for London to reverse its decision not to renew Uber's licence. On Friday, the regulator said Uber was not "fit and proper" to hold a London private hire operator licence on the grounds of "public safety and security implications". More than 400,000 names have since been added to Uber's petition on Change.org. The ride-hailing app firm says it will appeal against TfL's decision. The petition, started by Uber London, says: "If this decision stands, it will put more than 40,000 licensed drivers out of work and deprive millions of Londoners of a convenient and affordable form of transport." TfL's concerns include Uber's approach to carrying out background checks on drivers and reporting serious criminal offences. Uber's licence is due to expire on 30 September. It has 21 days to appeal against TfL's decision and can continue to operate while any appeals are ongoing. Continued Hundreds of thousands sign petition over Uber London licence loss - BBC News |
Great example of the ignorance of government. Allow uncontrolled immigration to the point that the immigrants are robbing and raping the citizens. And what's the answer? Inconvenience the citizenry even more. In addition put the immigrants out of work so they want to rape and rob even more.

Reads more like anti-competition claims than anything else. |
This shows how much people care whether fellow countrymen earn a decent wage and get the same protection they demand. Maybe if their bosses did the same they would vote differently.

Local news said in 2016 there were two sexual assault claims on Uber; the same number as the black cabs. I would suggest this is about taxes. |
Nothing compared to whats going on in Mexico with Uber. Right now to drive or take an uber its a 60K peso fine or jail. When I wright this XE.com does the exchange to 3,380.32USD
And all because the taxi's dont want uber. |

This is how the tech giants brilliantly play the social media game these days. They whip up the dullards into a frenzy. Its a bit like the gun lobby in the US and the poor saps who fall for the shite that they spew out. They call it disruptive tech - its actually profits through creating a monopoly, ignoring regulations, and gouging the pay and conditions of the drivers. Uber has lost, and continues to lose billions of dollars globally. Its investors are more than happy to fund the land grab. The strategy is not difficult to see through - put the competition out of business, then when actually driverless vehicles are a reality - bye bye Uber driver. The end result will be a truly amazing business - on a scale that no one will ever be able to compete with because the cost of entry will be off the scale. A global monopoly of driverless cabs and a company run by a couple of hundred people in California. |
