SSL - Certificates

Hey guys & gals :)

It seems that a lot of people are converting their sites to https:// (SSL). I looked around and I don't see many adult companies who made the switch. What are your thoughts about it and where do you get your SSL certificates?

We have 100's of domains so getting an SSL for each one of them would cost a fortune. Any safe and more affordable solutions for companies with that many domain names?

Thanks...

If you use CPanel, then it is easy to set up SSL certs using AutoSSL.

All my sites use https://letsencrypt.org/ !
You should give it a try ;)

I think there is a way to do SNL with Certbot

I haven't tried this yet but it makes some sense;
https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/...ficate/20917/3

Code:

certbot-auto -d one.example.com -d two.example.com\
 -d three.example.com -d example.org

https://letsencrypt.org/docs/rate-limits/

you might want to investigate this.

I'm thinking each group of domains needs to be on the same IP and the .pem files need to be in that same place.

Cloudflare offers free SSL certificates and it's free. I don't know how many sites you can add though.

+1 for https://letsencrypt.org/

What is the limit on letsencrypt? I still wonder, if I should use that thing.. With many sites, it would really cost a fortune...

plsureking 09-29-2017 08:46 PM

the letsencrypt rate limit is daily and per domain. the only time i had problems with it was initially setting up several subdomain certs in 1 day. i just waited a day and did more. then they auto renew every 3 months (if a cron is set).

a lot of cpanel hosts include it now, but i dont have that garbage on any of our servers. we dont even have mysql running.

letsencrypt is a pretty easy setup. install the package, run the command, update the config file, set a cron to update automatically. it took me a day to figure it out and write instructions.

Vacares includes it free with lets encrypt. Every domain I add gets a free one.

Well i just completed one SSL installation.

THANKS TO Alex at namecheap support :thumbsup

he just spend 1 hour 6 minutes with me on chat and did it Step by step till completion lol.

All what it cost me was to order a SSL 11$ for one domain from them.

I see many sites lacking in this, it will cost on the long run some sales here and there.

Strict cloudflare SSL works like a charme for me.

Letsencrypt for free or just use it if you want to test your sites before getting a paid ssl
you can get them for about $10 a year

ssl are great at stopping most bad bots etc cause they can handle ssl

but make sure you set it up right it only takes 10 min and test your ssl sites on
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/

there is a number of porn sites that have ssl but don't set them up right
