In my humble opinion, a much larger and more concerning problem than a one term president..

Anti-Trump media: 91% coverage negative, 96% of donations to Hillary

With the coverage of President Trump putting media bias on display as never before, an influential House chairman and longtime press critic has opened a campaign to call out the "mainstream media" for what he thinks it is.

"The media and Democrats are so close in association and so close in their philosophical views that we might as well use one word to describe both, and that's 'Mediacrats,'" said Texas Rep. Lamar Smith, founder of the House Media Fairness Caucus.

Smith, chairman of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, has often been on the receiving end of the media's anti-conservative bias, but he said the attacks on Trump have led him to urge colleagues to stop referring to the "mainstream" media.

"How can the media be considered 'mainstream' when it doesn't represent a majority of the American people?" he asked. "It's more accurate to use the term 'liberal,'" he said.

In an interview, he cited the media's ills: 91 percent of Trump campaign coverage was negative, 96 percent of media campaign contributions went to Democrat Hillary Clinton, and 55 percent of the public is weary of the anti-Trump tone in coverage.

"It's the most biased media I've seen in my lifetime," Smith said.

He blamed that for keeping Trump's approval ratings low. "Maybe the media is having an impact on the public's view of the president. That's not a surprise. Even if most of America thinks the media is biased, they still can be influenced by that bias, and I think that helps explain some of the public opinion polls of the president," he said.

While he has no plans to punish the media other than by scolding, he praised Trump for finding away around his press corps.

"I am a strong advocate of the president's use of Twitter. The only way the president can get around the national liberal media is to tweet," said Smith, a 15-term lawmaker and one-time Politico Policymaker of the Year.

He urged Trump, who regularly tweets his frustration with the media, to keep it up. "He can connect directly with the American people, and that's why the media doesn't like it. They want themselves to be the oracle. They themselves want to be the only conduit. They themselves want to tell the American people what to think,"

But that feud, he warned, could push the "mainstream media" over the cliff.

"I am concerned that it is hurting our republic, I'm afraid they are hurting themselves, I'm afraid they are hurting the country, and they're clearly so intent on hurting the president that they are taking themselves down at the same time," he concluded.

If you take all of the living presidents...Carter, Bush 1 and 2, Clinton and Obama and counted the lies they've told since we've known them and added all of those lies, that number would dwarf the number of lies told by Trump in his first 8 months.

The mainstream media isn't "anti trump" but instead reporting on the news.

ALL of the news coming out of the White House is negative - ALL of it. There is NOTHING positive at all. The news this week out of the White House was another failed attempt at repealing Obamacare, trump spinning lies about his tax plan that seems to favor the rich, a cabinet member stepping down, followed up by a two weeks long disaster in Puerto Rico where the trump administration failed to prepare for this, and then went golfing instead of taking action.

There just is no good news coming out of the White House at all. AT ALL. Trump has been in office now ten months, and has accomplished nothing.

He claims he made the military stronger but hasn't done anything with our military, and he also claims he's made our borders safer. He makes it seem like it is "so easy" but in reality he isn't doing anything. The best part is... trump claims our economy is great but has anyone looked at unemployment recently? We had six years of a dropping unemployment rate under Obama, yet under Trump unemployment has gone up twice - Small amounts, but if it goes up again in September it will be two months of an increasing unemployment rate which could be bad.

This is all happening exactly the way I thought it would. The trump administration is caught in a huge scandal that will most likely end in his impeachment (even if there was no collusion his administration will not survive this investigation), he cannot control the news cycle, is pissing everyone off with his tweets, and in the mean time he hasn't accomplished ANYTHING.

i think that is the most stupid question thread i have seen here.

why does media have to represent ANY majority ?

are they not here to represent the truth or at least a broad range of of different positions?

i think you are lack in media competence when you ask such a question because ist is SO easy to recognize:

1. read an article
2. check if this article represent only one point of view
3. if that is mot the case search for opposite meanings
4. count 1 + 1 together and you will find out the following:

99% of all media are focused only on their point (no matter what wing)
99% of all media is telling you just the half of the truth

the rest is on you - that is called media competence.

we have been the ones who asked fro all this freedom of speech.
now we are also the ones what are responsible to sort and interpret those information in a responsable way.

what you will teach your children one day can be right or wrong. and it is on you how much the word responsibility weights for you .
