Have you ever been hacked?

I'm doing an article on it and trying to get some figures on how common it is to get hacked for seasoned webmasters that have been around for a while.

I'm assuming everyone has been hacked at some point if they have been around for over ten years.

I have been hacked, twice on Wordpress. First time it was more of an inconveience. Took me ages to remove the code.
The last time it effectively shut me down.

My web sites were once hacked and once a personal computer was hacked even though I had an active software firewall. I have forgotten the name of the firewall I was using at the time. I was using php websites and quit using php based websites and have not been hacked since. I quit using the firewall, what ever it was, and use a different system now and have never been hacked since. In fact I run two different sets of software each day when I turn on the computer to rid the computer of clutter and possible, malware, viruses, trojans, ransom ware etc. I do that with each of three active computers and have not had a problem for years. Maybe just lucky maybe it is due diligence. I could not correct the problem with the websites so I killed them and started over basically from scratch. A real pain in the ass and took quiet a period of time.

Yes it is. I know WP is shit and is easy to exploit via PHP but I am a poor home taught webmaster that learnt HTML via HTML for Dummies.
I also got PHP for Dummies.

Wordpress is great and so easy to use when it all goes right but it sucks when it goes wrong.

I wouldn't say i have been hacked but I've had spy-ware ransom-ware on a computer.

Twice. When in business about fifteen years ago, hacker got into my box and several others. Took my host an entire day to see how it was done and clean code from seventy-five sites. He made a tiny coding error that allowed root passwords to be seen.

Two years ago last week I wa hit when hackers hit the host. Of eight sites, I've gotten two back. I plan to redo the rest "soon."

New host

Hackers, ughhh.

I remember a time when if you had to commit a crime, you didn't do it from the safety of your mom's basement like a little bitch. You went out into the world, and ran from the police if you had to.
