Blade Runner 2049 - My review (no spoilers)
Inside the cinema room, located inside a trendy shopping mall, it was a convention of ugly, scruffy-looking bastards (myself included) ... all the beautiful people were outside buying Nespresso capsules and trying on perfume samples.
The flick kicks in and as usual there are patrons (a true moviegoer enters the theatre empty-handed) unwrap their candy slowly as if that would make less noise than unwrapping it all at once ... it's actually a chinese torture (almost as worse as popcorn-chugging). The movie was all-around heavy, if you don't like the original you'll actually find it bloated. It is also less hard-boiled (less opressive, more expansive) but still true to its own genre (the Blade Runner genre). |
Not reading not reading not reading. Can't wait to see it.

Do you sit in the back row with a trench coat on and yell at the screen?
|
Did it in IMAX 3D yesterday, loved it, got taken to another world, will watch again in a week or two

How is that a review? Was it good or bad?

I found the original to be overrated. We will get replaced by robots, but not human looking ones.
|
i'll wait for Mark Princes review. I hope he thinks it sucks, so that it will be good. :thumbsup

It was pretty amazing. See it in Dolby Atmos if you can.
|
Amazing visuals. Here is an article about the "architecture" of the film

Before watching Blade Runner 2049

Overall, a beautiful (in the broadest sense of the word) film with a pretty straightforward plot. That's it.

BLADE RUNNER 2049 IS AMAZING!! (No Spoilers!) i don't know where to start really. I'll just run stuff off in no particular order. BR2049 is fantastic, pure, true science-fiction. It's the perfect sequel to the original classic. Great story, great acting, nice visual effects, and stunning, smart, beautiful cinematography. Oh and the music! (Hans Zimmer FTW!). I think this movie was made only for fans of the original. You can't see BR2049 without seeing the original Blade Runner first. There are a couple of great winks that only die-hard fans of the original would notice. It's directed by Denis Villeneuve, who also directed Arrival (2015) that most everyone on GFY hated. (Twits! it was great!). Blade Runner 2014 has similar pacing as Arrival, and I think even similar sound design. I could be wrong but I was reminded of Arrival a few times while watching this. Anyway, just go see it. It's Blade Runner, but it's not just more of the same. ========== Teaser, Minor Spolier: This movie is more of a sequel to the original Blade Runner, and less of a sequel to Blade Runner: The Final Cut. |
