RIP Mum

Your 4 year battle with alzheimer's is over. No more pain. No more suffering.

Things won't be the same without you. 61 years old. Your life was too short and unfair. I did the best i could to brighten up each day.

You will be missed... :(

My condolences to you and your family

Scott McD 10-16-2017 02:10 PM

It's maybe not the time for anger, but many family members i think will have a guilty conscience on how they have acted (or not acted as the case may be) since when was diagnosed. I treated each day with her since to make her still feel helpful, loved and a someone who deserved help when she needed it most. I guess all families have many who don't care as much.

Had the funeral parlour today to sort some things out. And now the funeral, or cremation to be exact will be on Friday.

I think i will need a few days away from everyone just to get my thoughts together. I should just plan out a trip somewhere and stick to that. Will see how the week goes first...

SpicyM 10-16-2017 02:16 PM

Sorry to hear that dude :(

She was a great woman, immensely proud of you. You can hold your head high for what you did for her the last few years. She knows it, you know it and the family know it. RIP.

Sorry to read of this. My condolences.

I can empathize....my Grandma had Alzheimer's. It is a brutal disease.

I hope that you gain some measure of comfort in knowing how you took care of her.

~hugs~

JuicyBunny 10-16-2017 03:04 PM

yuu.design 10-16-2017 03:05 PM

sad to hear :( my grandmother died last week and i know how it feels :(

MK Ultra 10-16-2017 03:24 PM

My condolences for losing her so early.

My mom hit 87 in June and even after a stroke in May she's still sharp enough to run the family properties but she's so weak and blind she had me take over day-to-day management and finances while she sets the policy.

I'm not sure which is the worst way to go, sharp mind and failing body or mind failing first. Both her remaining older sisters (she grew up as one of fourteen kids, only two left now) didn't know who or where they were at their end recently and I think that really scares her. :(

RazorSharpe 10-16-2017 03:30 PM

Scott, extremely sorry your loss. I guess as children most of us can only hope to give back to our parents as much as they've given us. For most of us, we fall way short, but it sounds like you did very well. Be strong and be proud.

NatalieK 10-16-2017 04:08 PM

Damn Scott, thatīs sad news. Sorry to hear for your loss. As you say, no more pain or suffering. Stay strong & appreciate the memories before she was ill :(

R.I.P. Scott's mum God bless

Scott McD 10-17-2017 01:52 AM

Thank you all.

It's a weird feeling, knowing the past few weeks and months i have spent mostly at a hospital beside, and although hospitals are grim places, it's strange not even having that routine to do anymore.

The last few weeks and especially her final days were just something i wouldn't wish on anyone though. Her pain was obvious. Yet she seemed to know us all right to the very end.

When i asked her a few days ago if she was in pain and she squeezed my hand and a tear ran down her face, my heart just melted. She deserved better.

My grandad will be looking after her now. That will do for me until we meet again...

davidCRM 10-17-2017 01:53 AM

my condolences :(

wehateporn 10-17-2017 02:08 AM

She was too young, such a shame, you should have had at least another 10 or 15 years together. Sounds like you were a great son to her
