Join Forms with 1 Payment Link or 1 Per Price Option?

Do you guys find better throughput for join forms with a different link for every price option or one link for all options where the member selects from a drop-down of prices which option they want? For example, if you had one recurring option and one non-recurring, would you have one link to join which goes to a payment page with recurring as the default and non-recurring as a drop-down option or would you have a link to join recurring and another to non-recurring. I usually find it better to list prices before the payment page. What do you guys find to be best?

Your question is an interesting one. I do not understand why no one has commented.

I don?t have any data to support one way or the other, nor the ability to do a b testing, which I am sure someone will suggest. But, alot of times, the answer we seek can be found by following the money. I had the same question as you a few years back. I just went around to some of the big name sites and studied their join pages. I found that most of them have links or selectable choices for the price point and membership options on the page already.

I took it one step further on my sites, When a potential customer clicks a certain price point, They still get the other options on the form?s dropdown. It took a lot more time to do, and like I said, I don?t have any data to support a claim one way or the other, but I feel like I did it the best I could, and I am doing alright.

My opinion, is that it?s nice to know what I will be paying if I were to sign up. I don?t know of anyone who shops at a store, puts things in their cart without knowing the price, and heads to checkout and waits for a surprising total on their bill.

For me I have tested this issue several times over the years via A-B testing. Strategies change over time and what didn't work before could work now so that's why I periodically revisit things like Join forms.

For ME (my sites) I find I get more sales when I have different links for each pricing option. I used to have a simple 'Join Now' button with all the options on a dropdown but I found some were not even seeing the other price options so I was limiting my revenue.

BTW: A good place to start is to look at how some other sites do it then go from there. But I always say: what works for a large company or some other webmaster may not work for your specific setup so the only way to really tell is to test. If not A-B then try both options, one week for option A one week for option B. Good luck!! :)
