Amazon and Walmart Plan the Destruction of the Middle Class

Consumerism in the Automation Economy
Quote:

With a UBI, the state funds consumerism, and that robots are not taxed for the people?s benefit. By design or accident America?s decline is pointing to a permanent underclass whose only choice will be to become discount shopping natives. Actually, it?s already happend.

Walmart and Amazon monetize the dark truth about the death of the American middle class. ...

... The Age of Discount Prime Members

The average Amazon Prime member, now in the area of 90 million, used to have a family household income of $70,000 (2015), that won?t last forever. So the race to the bottom is not the price wars between Amazon and Walmart, it?s actually the race to owning the future American underclass. As department stores such as Sears and Macy?s are doomed, discount stores are rising to match the decline of the American Middle Class.

Amazon?s less-expensive Prime for low-income customers are attempting to change that. Dollar stores have proven that marketing to lower-income customers can be a profitable decision. Hey, are you destined to be a discount-prime member? Don?t feel defeated, you?re not alone.

But don?t fret, at least you?ll be taken care of.
Much of this is a crock of shit ... It just ain't 1978 anymore ...

Maybe, in 10 years there will be an Amazon Elite service or another enterprise will capture the market lost in department store retailers ... For many of us, who are busy creating, shopping is more a chore that a adventure or social experience. That is what is going on IMHO.

Republicans will beat them to it (destruction of the middle class)

Nonsense.

I am an Amazon Prime member; I can buy nearly anything I want online and have it at my house in twenty-four hours. I broke the handle on my dryer last year, researched the price, and the only place selling it was Amazon. Everything is cheap too.

I need new office chairs so I've been looking into that. I found chairs I like (Porthos Home Rylan Office Chair), and the prices are all pretty much the same on the Internet.

The traditional retailer like Sears is dead. In case you haven't noticed, they are transforming our malls into "entertainment centers" with lots of restaurants.

When it comes to fixing things around the house, I go to the local mom and pop hardware store to buy the items and get advise from the owner on how to fix something I'm having trouble with

Convenience is everything. Stores making the transition to order online and in store pick up, will likely be a growing trend. Another cool thing I have noticed, for example, on homedepot.com if you set your local store and look up a product, it shows you exactly where it is in the store and how many are in stock. No longer do I need to track down some high school employee and ask them a question as to where to find something. I can be in and out of the store in 5 minutes.

Those look like some shitty uncomfortable chairs.

Destruction of the working class is already happening, the middle class are next.
