Computer tech question, anyone help?

So, my dog chewed through my USB mouse and now both ports on my laptop aren't working. I'm guessing the wire got shorted and it blew up a fuse somewhere near the port. I've never worked on a laptop before so I'm just wondering how hard it would be to open it up and resolder a new fuse. Thought about taking it somewhere but I really don't trust anyone and rather not get fucked over by some scumbag at best buy.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I had zero repair skills, and YouTube changed that. Enter your "model number" and words like "USB port repair" "replacement", etc and see what comes up. Often there are easy to follow DIY videos.

Good luck.

Welcome to the Youtube age.

If you've rebooted and they still don't work then the built in polyfuse on your USB chip is fried. The power fuse next to your power cord internally would shut off power to your laptop so you know that's not the issue. Sounds like a tough one good luck

I remember years ago when my dog chewed my telephone cord -- he got a shock off the voltage lolz Never did that again ...

Buy a wireless mouse next time if you are a cat *or dog person ...

FFS. I would try resetting it all to hell. Take the bios battery out hold down the power button all of that. I don't know if the USB headers have a fuse. I remember some kind of fuse was on some laptop mobos but I thought it was for reverse polarity protection...
Do they have Bluetooth KB/M combos you could get as a work around???

Checking these steps might help before replacing anything:
