Homeland Security Raid on Major Escort Advertising Site

Homeland Security is now executing a search warrant on a major escort advertising website. Local news is describing it as part of a synchronized international investigation and describing the federal agents as hauling off computers and cartons of records. You heard it first here.

What makes advertising escort services on websites illegal, but presumably legal when advertised in phone books?

Wow. Just found a story where the chick that shot that homeless man in Nashville was an escort on eros. She is also the daughter of a Texas defense attorney.

https://rollingout.com/2017/09/16/pr...-in-nashville/

Earlier this week, an aspiring country singer was arrested for shooting a homeless man in Nashville, Tennessee, after an argument about loud music. Katie Layne Quackenbush, 26, is the daughter of prominent Texas defense attorney Jesse Quackenbush. On Aug. 26, 2017, she was in downtown Nashville when she had a heated verbal altercation with a homeless man named Gerald Melton. Quackenbush was reportedly playing loud music and was parked near where Melton slept. He complained to her about the exhaust fumes and noise coming from her Porsche Cayenne and asked her to move her vehicle.

In response, Quackenbush exited her car, armed with a gun and shot Melton twice in the stomach and sped away. It was later discovered that she and a friend she was with went to have breakfast and never reported the shooting to police. It was not until she later returned to the area to allow her friend to pick up the car that she saw police at the scene. When it was revealed that police were looking for her, she later turned herself and the weapon used in the attack in to the police. She was arrested on Sept. 11, 2017, and charged with attempted murder. Melton is currently in stable condition at a Nashville hospital.

Apparently, Quackenbush has a lot to lose if she is convicted of attempted murder. It turns out that she has a $2.5M trust fund that she will lose access to if she is convicted of a felony. But this is not her first brush with the law. In 2013, she was arrested for assault causing bodily injury in an attack against her mother. The charges were later dropped and she was not charged for the crime.

Homeland Security concentrating on saving Americans from terrorists!!

Escorts is prostitution in most cases with the front name "escort"
Advertising unlawful service is a state level crime -- pandering

18 U.S. Code § 2421 'transporting'

it's a tortured reading but the advertiser is "transporting information" and providing "access" I wonder if this is the legal reasoning?

Don't blame the government for **TRYING TO enforce* the law.

The execution of a search warrant doesnt always immediately lead to the shut down of a site (or their social media accounts). Charges have not been filed ... yet. If criminal charges are filed, then there is a more definite reason to shutter the site. And the Feds might possible seek to seize the domain name - which would take Eros offline completely.

Backpage is still online... but RentBoy is gone and its CEO is in jail. What happens to Eros is still yet to be seen. They might survive or they might not.

This investigation dates back several years. Unfortunately, Ive been involved with the US Senate subcommittee's investigation into human trafficking. All of the escorts sites have been under a microscope for the past 5 years or so. This is the natural progression of the CraigsList, Backpage, RentBoy investigations...

As we say in Chicago, and Indictment is Not a Conviction.

A search warrant is much less than an Indictment.

Nobody's been charged with nuthin'.

crockett 11-10-2017 04:31 PM
