Anyway to stop news videos auto playing?
 

I use Chrome, Win 10 and I am sick of videos from various news outlets auto playing videos (usually in the sidebar in a small video).
I don't want to see these. I came to read the article not listen to some bitches.

How can I stop these annoying videos playing aside from blocking the offending sites?

there is an option to turn off autoplay as i remember, but i think it's only for sound.

Chrome will disable this permanently in 2018.

becuase every website uses diffferent tech. to play videos, i mean different players., so turning js off is only solution, but nowadays it will break website. as majorty sites are using js for lots of stuff.

All of these sites are desperate for cash.... It's gotten pretty bad. The worse ones have videos on top of their sites that you have to click through to get to the news.

in browser go to chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy
Set it to 'Document user activation is required.'
Boom: no more auto-playing videos.
