To spike the price of oil, you need to provoke action that threaten supply.
They have taken economic action against Venezuela and may get the upset of a lifetime in oil prices as the sanctions destroy them.

But there are plenty of other problem countries we overlook. Why is this one so important to the admin. It's always about the oil.

And remember we still import over 30% of our oil in the US. Most from Canada.
Yes they have been telling you that north America is energy independent and may be true in 3 more years but the US will still import 15% by then at best.
But shale oil exports have been improving the Trade defecate numbers for the last couple of years. Thanks Obama. How long before the oil manipulators work there magic once again ?

All of the problem areas that the US has made mark with lately are oil producing nations.
And sometime somewhere we will be asked to spend blood and treasure again for some's profits.

The XL pipeline that created eminent domain claims by a Canadian Oil company were to get low value heavy oil 'that can be refined only by some refineries' to Port Arthur, TX where it can be exported as refined product. Big mark-up.

You would think those on the right would be screaming about this. But it was turned into a jobs issue to get it past the public and the reality is there will be less of them with that pipeline. Just a few more to build it. What happens after it is completed. Nobody looked that far ahead did they. Why couldn't the Canadian Oil Company just refine it there and ship the product to the US ? It's bad enough we subsidize American company's but now foreign co's ?

More more more profits and less less less jobs. This country has been for sale for a long time and I don't see anything from the current admin to slow or stop it and drain that swamp. Just make it worse.

I want results and I don't care what party gives them.

It's funny how the anti-war protesters quietly went away as Obama expanded middle east wars and then they came back to protest under Trump, but this time for "fascism" since there are no wars.

Seems to me like the price of oil is pretty low. Prices topped out under President Bush, and dropped by half under Obama. In the past ten years the United States has become the largest producer of oil in the world (or least one of the top three producers of oil in the world). The US no longer relies on the Middle East and other countries for oil. This is why the price of oil is so low.

War is good for oil.
