Canceled shows that should have been picked up?

I just flipped on the last season of Longmire on Netflix. So happy they picked it up these last few seasons as I always enjoyed it. Between cable, network, Netflix, and other Internet channels its really nice that there are options for these shows to be shopped around if one carrier decides to drop them. Years ago this was not the case.

Another show that I would have liked to see live longer: Jericho

What other favorites have sadly disappeared?

GFED 11-18-2017 07:58 PM

Firefly.

RIGHT?

I had never heard of Firefly until I saw it for sale in Target one day. I figured for the price I couldn't go wrong even it if sucked. I was hooked that first night and binge watched it all in three nights.

You probably already know, but just in case you or someone else doesn't know. They made a movie called Serenity after the show ended. I think you'll enjoy it as well.

Seems to be the #1 choice out there.

Enterprise (the Vulcan chick was hot) ended too soon after only 3 seasons.
The Colbert Report (bring it back! The Opposition sucks!)
Battlestar Galactica (the original)
Futurama (I know it came back but it ended again and I want MORE!)

I feel like I've defected to a different generation.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (TV Series 2008–2009) - IMDb

Never got to finish season two before they killed it was better than and built upon all the terminator movies.

KyleXY was another cancelled good one though they did spend the first few seasons super slow and teen puppy love, pity that as soon as the ramped up the pace.. show got killed.

Here's a show that ended on time but.. could of had way more seasons
watch this if you have time

The Lost Room

Penny Dreadful...although the creator did bring the show to a fitting end.

CaptainHowdy 11-19-2017 05:08 AM

I don't have one ...

2MuchMark 11-19-2017 08:31 AM

Space:1999 (it needs a reboot)
Battlestar Galactica
Agent Carter (even though the last season sucked).

Can't wait for next season of Westworld.

I really enjoyed the first few seasons but there was a tipping point where it just fell off the edge of a cliff. Were you able to stay with it throughout the series?

Lichen 11-19-2017 09:09 AM

This, IMO.

Sopranos, Oz, The West Wing.

Axeman 11-19-2017 10:35 AM

For comedies: Legit, Better Off Ted, Freaks and Geeks, Get A Life and Undeclared.

Yes. Some episodes were better than others of course but overall I enjoyed the whole serious. The last episode was particularly good.

If you want, I think there is a BSG "Essentials" list somewhere that gives you all of the episodes essential to the story arc and skips the rest.

If you don't have time and just want to watch the last episode, go for it. Of course you probably know Galactica makes it to earth, but this is established in the first few minutes of the last 2-hour episode so this isn't much of a spoiler. Go for it, you'll like it.

INever 11-20-2017 04:34 AM

Are any of these comedies or cartoons (besides futurama)?

overdose 11-20-2017 05:32 AM

yeah Sopranos definitely... hollywood cloning all these piece of shit pop artists but couldn't do it to legends huh... :1orglaugh

mikesouth 11-20-2017 08:27 AM

Have to agree on Firefly I think the problem was that it never got discovered by most people until it was gone, I know that was the case for me.

As for Sopranos...it ended when it should have it was near jumping the shark ditto House

I would have loved more seasons of Black Sails, I know that it ended when it had to but it could have changed storylines, time settings...etc....Historically theres still a good story with Anne Bonney Mary Read and Jack rackam

Hate to see Sun Records cancelled, it was well done and intelligent (yet Blackish, The Middle and The Goldbergs and other dreck like that continues)

Roadies is gone too and that show was GREAT!

The Americans will end after the next season (6) which is too bad its one of the best shows on TV ever....

On the other hand The Deuce is incredibly well done and without a doubt the edgiest thing that David Simon has ever done, Its on track to rival The Wire for best Television show ever made....it'll be interesting to see if The Emmys pan it because of the content...If you have watched it you know its almost hard core....

OK my 2 cents worth id done, this thread got my eye....fun thread

Freaks and Geeks was a comedy from the late nineties. It only lasted a season or two, but a good chunk of the actors on the show went on to great careers.

Tyrant was awesome. I wanted to see Barry become the Tyrant but they ended it before he could turn heel.

Banshee. - Very edgy show, lots of violence, sex, and great storyline.

Gang Related - Another great show.

The original WKRP in Cincinnati. Anyone my age who disagrees is a fucking tool.

Fuck your Seinfeld whiny unfunny shit. WKRP was monumental.

def Futurama

Star Trek Enterprise was good. Too bad it didn't last 7 seasons, it was definitely better than this new STD.

wait.. what? :1orglaugh

Seinfeld is about the only "sitcom" that is anything but whiny... And that's what makes the show untouchable to this day. It's 100% just comedy, 'emotion' was being made fun of and not taken seriously. Compare it to other comedy shows and there's always this forced drama element. For example 'Friends' was a fucking soap opera "comedy" for women, it was horrible.
Seinfeld is unique, pure comedy.
