Should I Buy Bitcoin?

The end of the year is coming and it's time to do something with all this porn money I have been accumulating.

("But I thought there was no money in porn!")

So should I buy me some Bitcoin or stick with mutual funds, 401Ks, etc?
Or a little of both?

I am thinking Coinbase. Get an account, link it to my bank, and off we go!

Thoughts?

awxm 11-27-2017 05:58 PM

Go with GDAX, same company, lower fees, your account is tied to your Coinbase.

Yeah I would invest although I think this current spike is due a correction any day now but what the fuck do I know?

I wouldn't recommend leaving it sitting on an exchange, safest bet is probably a hardware wallet such as a Trezor.

Ha you read my mind!
I just ordered the Trezor. :)
I figured why not have it ready for if and when I decide to jump into the Crypto Currency World.

I will also check out GDAX. :thumbsup

Bitcoin could be at $40,000 at the end of 2018.

$0000 - $1000: 1789 days
$1000- $2000: 1271 days
$2000- $3000: 23 days
$3000- $4000: 62 days
$4000- $5000: 61 days
$5000- $6000: 8 days
$6000- $7000: 13 days
$7000- $8000: 14 days
$8000- $9000: 9 days

Too Far, Too Fast?

That's always the question (when will the bubble burst?).

But it seems if you keep your eye on it, and can sell within minutes, you should be able to liquefy your BTC investment rather easily.

Of course, that's what they all said back in 1929 just before the Wall Street crash. LOL

ZENRA 11-27-2017 06:51 PM

If you have money you're totally fine with losing, sure.
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but cryptocoin investing is insanely volatile.
If you're young with time on your side and have money you wish to invest more wisely, there's many better and less riskier options out there.

Maybe but I do not see btc wiping out an investment. Anything is possible but it doesn't look like a Wall Street-type crash is in Bitcoin's future. Fingers crossed as they say.

Oh how I wish I had not frittered away my younger days!

I think Bitcoin Cash is definitely a threat to Bitcoin "Core", because there's now a coin which has sufficient volume to be attractive to miners. They simply switch to mining whichever is most profitable at the time. You can see the effects here:

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

According to the data on this page, for the first time since at least Feb 2016, Bitcoin difficulty has fallen twice in a row. You can jerk off about how great segwit is all you want, but this is a pretty clear indication that there's now some more serious competition.

There's also the chance, however small, that a fatal flaw in the client operation or crypto calculations will render Bitcoin (and possibly its derivatives) entirely worthless. That's worse than a Wall Street crash.

In all honesty I think we still have some time before the bubble bursts...

Not only based on the below image but also on the many conversations i had with some of the "so-called experts".. In other words.. I would def buy BTC!! Or go for some upcoming smaller crypto :thumbsup

Number 2 applies in this case. Doesn't anyone learn from history?

bub·ble
ˈbəb(ə)l/
noun
noun: bubble; plural noun: bubbles; noun: bubble shell; plural noun: bubble shells
1.
a thin sphere of liquid enclosing air or another gas.

2.
used to refer to a good or fortunate situation that is isolated from reality or unlikely to last.

GDAX can't match my name and SSN to whatever public record DB they use.

So I use Coinbase. As an American, that's the only exchange that has processed my KYC documents, or allows US Citizens..

adultchatpay 11-28-2017 08:00 AM

When US tells bitcoin is funding terrorism, that's when the bubble will burst.

BarryB 11-28-2017 08:08 AM

For sure, BTC only going one way - Up!

quite fast...

Barry-xlovecam 11-28-2017 10:14 AM

With all the interest in blockchain by national banks and some private businesses -- Bitcoin's days may be numbered, then maybe not ... Place your bets I guess.

PornDude 11-28-2017 10:28 AM

That's what my friends who are into BTC big time tell me to do.
(Then again they would, wouldn't they? But they are richer than me so I am listening.)

The thing I like with Coinbase is how easy it is to setup and, if you want or need to, you can easily sell your Bitcoins. I think if I keep an eye on it and set a limit to sell if it drops to a certain price I should be good to go.

Famous last words? :D

GAMEFINEST 11-28-2017 12:40 PM

I rather buy stocks

Will do in a little while Sir.

wankawonk 11-28-2017 03:05 PM

I would buy it, along with some altcoins. I hold a bit of ether, bch, and litecoin, in addition to a ton of btc, and am looking into dash, monero, zcash, and ripple.

I don't see the scaling issue/tx fee/block size debate being a bitcoin-killing issue (and apparently neither do the bitcoin core devs), but it's obviously pushing attention and transactions onto smaller blockchains, and that's only going to continue as tx fees rise. I think bitcoin will be around for a long time as a store of value, but other cryptos are already behaving more like "currency" than BTC (bitmain is only accepting BCH last time I checked!), so being diversified into the larger crypto ecosystem seems smart right now.

The problem with any crypto (except ripple apparently?) is that no single blockchain can support every transaction in the world, no matter the block size or frequency. So any blockchain that gets popular will end up with high tx fees and people will start using newer blockchains to do smaller transactions.

I'm gonna pass on this one.

If I wanted in, I would have done it when I was in highschool reading about BTC on the family's dial up connection.

IMO, I missed the bus a long, long time ago.

There's more opportunity out there. Trust me.

Also, if I did buy BTC, it'll be on it for the long run. IMO, if BTC is 10k today, would it be at 20k in 5 years? 40k in 10 years?

I-d-k so I'll pass.

IMO, most people on BTC are speculating and not investing.

I know a few people who invested: they mined early on as well as created coin technologies. That's a better route IMO.

PornDiscounts-V 11-29-2017 01:54 AM

Wait. It will implode soon.

Then buy. Sell at next 12k valuation.

Rinse and repeat

never to late, but go with either coinbase or bitpanda, plus500 is very good but has so much it could be confusing.

40k by the end of 2018 so youll earn big bucks :thumbsup

Trolleater 11-29-2017 08:03 AM

It's not going to drop anytime soon. I'd guess it hits $60k by the end of 2018 at least.
